    It's winter boot time

I went down a whole size in the Mocs as they are quite long. After wearing them for a year I’ve had to admit they are a bit on the narrow side so thin socks only. I wish I’d tried on the 7.5 in the wide version.

If I could have got the wide version I would have. As it is, a half size down from my regular size seems to be working out well after the initial break in.

Very nice well worn in. A bit on mink oil wouldn’t go amiss on the toe caps though.

    It's winter boot time

Got these arriving in a couple of days.

I am a size 8 in trainers, but size a full size down for anything of quality.

The last two pairs of these I bought over the last couple of years I have had to send back It depends on the width/size combination.

If think these are size 7 and D width in which I think I have found the right combination, as the EE width are like boats.

I like buying from Office as you can pickup/return to store, and I have one of their shops around the corner from me. Avoids faffing with mail returns.

Top job. I took a gamble on sizing on these work chukkas off eBay a few weeks ago. I went true to size and they’re actually almost spot on. They were barely used and are already all day comfortable.

Perhaps a minority opinion, but I preferred the original colour. Did you want to darken and shine the leather?

Red Wing shoe cream with neats foot oil maintains colour without shine, although I slap any old stuff on my boots, Kiwi wax, dubbin, cream, stuff for my Altberg walking boots and have now pretty much wrecked the briar oil slick finish.

Surely spring has sprung over there by now! Remember clocks go forwards on Sunday.

It’s like winter left the room & just stormed back in shouting AND ANOTHER THING! Never seen so much rain.

Clocks going forward is one less hour of being awake in the rain.

Walked to the pub for a couple of pints earlier, carried the gilet as was far too warm in the sun. Walk back it was on, zipped up fully and a hat on. Weather is all over the place. Wishing I wasn’t cooking on the bbq 3 days this long weekend.

Ah then I hope it stays dry for you...I'm lucky I cheated and installed the BBQ, sans the legs, upon the wood stove/ firepit in our separate outside kitchen...I'm a lazy so and so, it's a gas' un.

Mrs P just booked a table at one our favourite places at the coast for Sunday, so that's me mostly off the hook.

Thats Redwing mink oil ive applied. Itll dry out the excess removed and in a year they will look like they did in first picture which is nothing like the original colour. They age beautifully

Toying with a pair of Moc Toe Oro Russetts, but hate by shoes mail order, as I like to try them on and buy.

I am currently a solid 8 in Nike/Addidas, but a solid 7 in Loake, and my midget feet mean I can even size further down to a 6.5 in my Grenson and Oliver Sweeneys.

For reference how do Moc Toes come up against the other 3 brands I have mentioned above?

Reading your post and from experience of all I would say you would want a 6.5 with thin socks or 7 with thick ones.

  28. #1478
Same here. My Red Wing moctoe boots are my true shoe size (i.e. work shoes) and wear them with thick, but not very thick, socks. Trainers are one size up on work shoes.

Thanks for this. I reckon you will be spot on. Just a question of whether I gamble on a size 7.

Any experience of Jadd desert boots? Getting mixed reviews on-line. After a pair of boots which I can wear in the summer, ie. not too thick in the leather. After a pair made in UK or Europe. Thanks

I had some Billy Tannery desert boots made by Jadd.

They were nice but perhaps not worth the £295 charged and whilst I’m normally a size 8, these were half a size too big.

Having said that so fancy trying the wild elk with lactae hevea sole.

    Not much help really!

I fear my boot obsession is fast overtaking the watch obsession .

  36. #1486

    It's winter boot time

Sizes 9 & 10 available. Brown version (size 9) and Moc Toe at -36% (size 10.5).

I think the Iron Rangers with the Christy sole is a more handsome boot than the Moc Toe, but unfortunately not in my size.

Will add a pair of 1907s to the Chukka 3141 (D width) I have just bought.

Anyone have both and can confirm recommend staying the same size, or half a size down for the 1907s?

I have both the chukka and moc in 12 D.

Would say depending on your foot width you could go half down in the Mocs as they are a bit wider and have much more room in the toe.
