I'm on my second set of Bose QC earphones. Both were/are very lightly used, maybe 8 times a year.
The first pair went back under warranty after one ear suddenly stopped working, apparently it was not uncommon. As for the second pair, I have recently had to replace the plastic part of the on/off slider as it broke. That can't be that uncommon either as you can easily buy aftermarket 3D printed replacements online.
I only use my Bose for travel, so when they do break it is very inconvenient.
I bought my Son some Sony NC headphones about four years ago. He uses them heavily and has not reported any problems.
