Sci fi horror 'Possessor' is available on C4 now. I watched it a few days ago and I enjoyed it. Crucially I quickly got to a point where I cared about the characters which made the film particularly gripping. It's very graphic and bloody in places with shades of 'that' scene in Irreversible. The pervasive score throughout reminded me of Cronenberg's 'Videodrome' then I realised the director is David's son Brandon.
Just watched The Deepest Breath on Netflix.
A great documentary about free-diving.
Deepest breath really good
New MI film saw it last night.
Really good but a long film about 2h 45
Just watched Oppenheimer. Found it dull and an hour too long sadly.
TILL ,on Amazon Prime. Hard watch ,especially as I'm a father of a young boy.
In no particular order;
Mission impossible Dead Reckoning. Almost didn't bother because I HATE movies being split into two parts, apart from Lord of the Rings it feels totally pointless going to the cinema to watch half a story. Anyway, it was brilliant and my worries about it being left on some daft cliffhanger were unfounded.
Barbie. Meh, not terrible but a fairly pointless and bland story. Still, Margot Robbie, so... yeah. Some good laughs, but 90% of them a tongue in cheek satire about women's rights and institutional sexism. Good fun though.
Lord of the Rings. I dunno why but I sat down to watch the full extended trilogy through three nights last week. The CGI hasn't aged all that well but it's still a masterpiece of film making.
True Detective. OK, so its not a film its a series, but Jesus its good. I missed season 1 when it came out (Matthew McConaughay and Woody Harrelson). Just incredible.
Apologies for going O/T.
I'm trying to remember the title of a science fiction film which had amazing special effects (streets and buildings warping and twisting.
Possibly with Tom Cruise
Single word Title.
Thanks.

Following the positive reviews here, I watched The Covenant. Good film, and Jake Gyllenhall's best war film? I kinda guessed where the film was going quite early, but was a bit surprised by the way the ending went.
PS Did anyone else spot Homelander?
I've seen SISU recently. It is well gory and grimy. Decent watch if you suspend the disbelief of how much someone can take

What he said, great story telling (didn't even need a wee half way through) and fantastic cast.
Watched
Mark Cavendish Documentary
Bull
Both very good.
RIAC
Dune (part one) - outstanding
Another vote for "Bull"
wowzers ! that took off pretty quickly.
Neil Maskell is just brilliant in everything 'Utopia' & 'Kill List' to name but 2.
Watched Renfield and it was utter nonsense but really enjoyable.
The death of Sixto Rodriguez has reminded me how good Searching for Sugar Man is. Think I'll take it in again later.
Don't just do something, sit there. - TNH
We watched Kandahar and The Covenant over the last few days.
Pretty similar stories, although I think the latter was better.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
Norwegian "Horror Film" a bickering couple go to their Log Cabin to kill each other, and end up fighting 3 escaped convicts hiding in the loft
As its a Tommy Wirkola film expect lots of gruesome deaths, plenty of humour and good performances
available on Netflix
Yes i know !!
Very good film though , worth a view 👍
Big Boys Don't Cry
British film about a boys abusive upbringing in a Children's home based on a true story
Really well acted as the Film flits between his childhood and his later life, not a pretty watch but excellent all the same
9/10
Run
American Psychological drama about a Mum looking after her "disabled" daughter interesting watch with some good twists and well paced
8/10
I watched The Deer Hunter, again, on BBC4 last night. Probably done it to death, but De Niro is good.
One thing I never quite understood, perhaps my misunderstanding of the timeline. The three, are not that young, finished work at t'mill for the weekend, a few beers, a wedding, a spot of hunting, Monday comes and off to Vietnam. How does that work? Monday came and they actually signed up, were accepted, off for a few months training and then happened to get posted to Vietnam rather than Germany, Korea, wherever? Then again, it's just a story, a film.

Possibly because they were drafted i.e. told to report at a certain date?
Speculation as I don't know how the system worked and can't remember the scene in the film off hand.
Enjoyed 'The Menu' the other day. Deffo not horror as it's marked.. more like v.dark/sinister humour. The ending was really quite amusing.
'Four Lions'.. brilliant satire about incompetent jihadists. Very funny. The bloke from fonejacker was hilarious.
"Barry Lyndon" Ryan O'Neal - 1975
being a huge Kubrick fan I can't believe I have only just watched for the 1st time.
a fabulous storyline wonderful acting and scenes worthy of Constable.
also just re watched "2001 A Space Odyssey" - as old as me but has aged far better
I need to watch that again as it’s been years since I last saw it.
I’ve been binge watching some Kubrick documentaries on YouTube recently. Kubrick started as a photographer which you can really tell from him cinema photography.
It really is amazing how well 2001 holds up today. Not many special effects films you can say that about.

Finally got around to watching 'Air' last night, The Nike/Jodan story and as with most others here I really enjoyed it.
Appreciated there will be some artistic license to the story but if the monetary figures are realistic it's bonkers!
A good cast and well acted, easy watching for a couple of hours

Just finished Stacey Gregg's 'Here Before', a BBC Films production currently available on Prime. I put it on blind and, against the odds, it paid off. Very very slow burn psychological thriller.
Jan 2024. Jase doing Jase things with a dodgy American accent. Though I always find his films entertaining in the main.
Enjoyed ‘Reptile’ on Netflix last night.
