Shocking these women buying stuff, they’ll be voting and driving next.
Total BS what you said about the DJ. I have one and do care about it, it’s a classic watch that goes with most occasions and I didn’t buy it because I was desperate to get a Rolex. I prefer to it a Submariner or similar.
In the last ten years I’ve had;
Numerous 16610lv “Kermit’s”
Explorer 2
Rose gold and steel root beer
Skydweller
Hulk
Sub
Starbucks
DD40
Sd4k
Numerous Daytonas
Yachtmaster
Pepsi
Batman
Batgirl
Having recently sold all of my watches and bought a dj41 (the first dj I’ve ever bought and owned), I can say wholeheartedly your flippant statement is ridiculous.
Ive loved all of the sports Rolex I’ve owned but felt they reached such prices that at this moment in my life I’d prefer the monetary gains they’d made. (I’m lucky I sold most of mine earlier this year and end of last year).
I’ve just bought a DJ41 which i bought as a matching pair of datejust for me and my wife as a wedding gift.
I am over the moon with my particular watch and I’m enjoying the watch like I did my first Rolex. Yes it’s different than a sports model but I like the fact it pairs well with a suit and smart attire. I will probably buy another sports model and have dj41 for work/smart wear and a sports model for the weekend.

It's not BS or flippant. Don't get your kickers in a twist.
It's a boring production watch millions wear, so yes, it has desirability albeit is as drab as dishwater, which is why it has a trillion different versions.
My comment was relevant to the post in that ore Datejust sales have undoubtably been as a direct result of some not being able to buy a sports model, but HAVE to own a Rolex. That will fade and the boring Datejust folk will fill the void as much as the Datejust will fill the windows.
I look forward to seeing more of these little stories…

VC Overseas white dial now being offered by greys at £300 above RRP
Most people who wear a Datejust are very fond of letting people know about it and most of them are gold just to make it easy. It is without doubt a very ostentatious watch.
I put my name down - expression of interest they call it in WOS - for an Explorer ll (black dial) and didn’t get the Spanish Inquisition as I was expecting. Mind you I could be dead by the time one turns up I suppose. The white dial version had a closed list apparently.
Just had a look on C24 and there are 19 126720VTNR listed from £21-30k.
Surely that must be the entire UK alloaction!
I see Rolex steel sports will be as follows in the next few years, in this order. This is not my order of preference, for example I prefer black to white Daytona or the black exp 2 to a black sub
Below retail:
Yachtmaster 2
Deepsea black
A few hundred to 1k above retail
Explorer 1
Milgauss black
Yachtmaster 1
Exp 2 black
2k above retail
Explorer 2 white
Milgauss Blue
JC deep
Sea dweller
Black Sub
3-4k above
Batman
Starbucks
4-5k above
Pepsi
7k above
Green GMT
9k
Daytona Black
11k
Daytona White

The Milgausses used to stink out the AD windows before the pandemic hit so I'd imagine they wouldn't trade at a premium once the market recalibrates
Brand new Spites being offered at £19.5k on dealer groups now. Pepsi £16k
Jeez - that is terrible on so many levels.
Jubilee bracelets do not suit any of the Sports watches IMHO.
After all these years they do not/did not need to start the whole 'crown on the left' malarky - too many gone before.
And do not get me started on the 'names'........

Agreed on the “sprite”,totally unbalanced and one for the fan boys . But there is a difference in the design and not just a different colour bezel which depending on dealer grey dealer hype commands a higher presence on the secondary market with a corresponding price. Rolex have innovated their sport watches with the jubilee bracelet to jewellery status to counteract their prices and try to show worth in their designs . And whilst it might not be popular opinion bezel ,dial and bezel colours that command higher prices are merely “the emperor’s new clothes”.
