That’s a nice watch! It reminds me of the platinum Daytona!

You were right with the when, I do need a Plan B. That will be to buy a donor. Cue more trawling of Yahoo Japan and other auction sites.

Thank you, I've been keen to obtain an early matrix style LCD and this fitted the bill. Unfortunately the excitement wore off after I had tried a fresh battery in as the module is dead.

Yahoo Japan is a good place to look for this sort of thing and I think there is a working one on at the moment.

Been searching for one of these for a while Jaeger-LeCoultre Mater Control Geographic. I wanted the black dial as I find it less dressy than the silver. The problem is there aren't many around in black, in minty condition and box & papers. Traded my Zenith Chronomaster Revival Shadow plus a few extra £££s for it.

Tried on their new references of this model but at 40mm it wore too big. The 38mm of this piece from 2005 is absolutely perfect on me. It came on the original JLC beads of rice bracelet which is lovely but I prefer it on a strap. Had spare Zenith textured rubber strap to hand so will be using this for now.

You've finally got it in. Congrats, I know you have been waiting for something new. How does this compare to the SD43?

Thanks guys. Wear similar to a 42mm Exp2 or a much thinner SD43. In a few weeks I'll have the right size blades and it'll fit as intended. Right now the glide lock is maxed out.

Never understand precious metal let alone white gold but absolutely love it. The inevitable first scratch is going to hurt a lot.

Nice one. I had a look at one of these when picking up my Explorer 36 and was quite impressed. Too large in size (and price) for me though.

The final of my recent trio of Kickstarter arrivals arrived on Friday, but I've only just got around to sizing the bracelet.

This one is a MMI Turret.

Another NH35 diver, but the date complication is unusual (not quite unique, but I've not seen another at this sort of price) and the bezel is ion plated steel, rather than aluminium or the now ubiquitous ceramic.

I like it and it's certainly different enough to earn its place in my watch box.

Put my name down for the new IWC pilot in green which finally turned up when I was in quarantine… a few days later and now it’s on the wrist!

Personally I think the green is quite understated, outside of bright shop lighting it’s quite dark.

Whilst several watches have come and gone over the last several months, these two arrived this week:

So, been thinking about getting a Gevril Avenue of Americas for a long time (as well as a Corum Trapeze), so decided to go for one .. not a popular brand, not that I care, I like what I like & really like it.

Now, I have tried & failed to land a turtle 9 times previously, that is I have bought 6 vintage 6309s, not one ever arrived, bought 3 6306s, not one of those arrived either. Decided, perhaps a modern one would, so went for a vintage lume mod one and pretty happy with it:
    /vince ..

Thank you. My old 2264 didn't hit any markers either but fortunately this one hits them all.

Thanks and I agree about the bracelet. My 2264.50 had the same one.

Fantastic arrival today from Jacob (JC180) the Grand Seiko SBGH273. It’s the autumn watch from the GS Heritage collection for my 50th birthday (in October) so out of the box to try and now hidden away by my wife, not to be seen until the big day! As has often been said it’s very hard to capture the GS quality but I’m absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to start wearing it later in the year.

+1 much prefer that bracelet to the 'Bond' one, which is too fussy for me and looks like its made out of cheap metal...

That’s a beauty! I love dials that have different characters in different lights!

    What a stunning watch!!
Totally agree with your 38mm vs 40mm thoughts. There are many modern JLC watches I’d buy if only they would cut a few mm to something like 38mm.

Now it's arrived, not massively impressed. The reduced thickness isn't really that noticable. Doesn't feel like a £1200 watch in all honesty.

I thought that about the first Unimatic I bought at £700 or whatever it was. It was a £300 kickstarter at best. Looked pretty cool though.

    Cool

    Another CYMA....

    (pic from Friday thread)

I know, it's your standard quartz Submariner-inspired dive watch. But it's Swiss-made, 200M WR, sapphire glass, and the bracelet is quite good. 20mm lugs, perfect 40mm size and the inside presents the reliable ETA 955 as used by many Swiss brands, Omega, TAG, CWC and others.

Back in the day it was quite expensive:

As no one wants these now, this one relieved me of under ¥5000 delivered, or about £30

Haven’t you had a couple of U1 Massena Labs before?

I still quite like my U1-FM, but it’s expensive for what it is.
