Not sure if I am allowed to post here about values, but there has been lots of talk this week about prices dropping, Rolex dropping, end of production etc.
My friend has a Kermit 2004 which is a full set and in great condition, he wants a Batman and wondered what the value of this 16610LV.
If this should be in SC or if it's not allowed please shout, Don't wanna upset anyone.
Cheers
Russ
I would have thought it was worth more than a Batman, but as Ben has posted the flat 4 insert is a key question.
In general haven’t all Rolex prices softened slightly? I mean before this outbreak the prices were a bit mental anyways (asking prices at least)
I would have thought that your friend should be able to get a BLNR after selling the Kermit without putting any money in (unless it’s a flat four as mentioned by others).
Currently a seller has both for sale on SC
would have thought selling Kermit would straight forward enough to buy a batman
Hi,
2004, the watch (early F serial) would have been a flat four Bezel Mark 1 dial unless the bezel insert has been sold or swapped out. So, a watch with full set is worth a pretty penny. A quick search will put you in the ball park of value. A 50th LV IMO is one of the most iconic Submariner dates you can find. A true piece of Rolex history and rare. All of them are gorgeous but the flat four the icing on the cake and a Y serial would be the lotto.

You might find this useful to recognise the differences between the variants.

Thanks @JoeNarvey that was a really interesting read. The level of detail across the years on one Rolex model is what really separates Rolex from the average watch brands. The comparison shits in that article were superb.
Thanks guys, these Rolexes are so complex. fat four, pointy four etc double red, etc
I've only got one pic of the face, but more are coming.
According to the article (very interesting) it's a pointed 4 but let me get a serial number
Thanks also to the guys who messaged me directly.
Russ
It’s not a 2004 watch with rehaut engraving
Chrono24 puts my 2008 M series at 11.5k (full set).
Might be worth your friend checking the serial on the papers against the watch, as has been said, 2004 wouldn’t have an engraved rehaut AFAIK. With the engraving it will be 2007 onwards.
It's an M360** Serial according to the rehaut
The story is unfolding as we learn more
Tell him to keep it.
differences can fluctuate the price so much!
Welcome to Rolexes

Smart move, the LV is the best modern Rolex.
Mine are F and D serials, all without a rehaut but all different.

Can someone explain why there are these differences?
Are they continually trying to tweak and improve the design, deliberately making small differences to interest the collectors or someone makes a new batch of parts w/o an exact specification (not sure why this would be)?
Thanks guys.
Oops, wasn’t meant to be a willy waving post but I can see how it looks.
I bought my first LV in 2005 for £2650 and put the papers in my sons name.
The others were bought from watch dealers many years ago when they would sit for a while before they sold.
Does anyone remember Puffy? He used to buy and sell top condition watches, only the very best.
The flat 4 full set was from him and is as NOS condition.
Yes, they all differ with the dial and insert combinations but really to any normal person they are exactly the same!
I did have 5 but sold one, I’d post a pic but....
Most importantly I hope everyone is keeping safe and doing ok, this forum is a welcome distraction for me and I enjoy seeing what other like
minded folk have.
£2650 for a Kermit! OMG. I didn't know they were ever that!
Congratulations....

Four Kermits, I'm jealous! I don't think the willy waving comment was aimed at you btw but instead at someone's typo.
It's unlikely you'll have four of these and nothing rlse. Your SOTC must be incredible.
They were in lots of AD windows when I bought mine at £3000 RRP, just before they started with the engraved rehaut - I lived in Kingston at the time and 2 AD’s next to each other had them in the window. No list, no waiting. If you had a time machine, a lot of ‘rare’ stuff was easily available at the time, at silly low prices compared to now!

Actually I never really understood the fascination with the green bezel - it never looked quite right imho. I really tried to like the green but never did. It’s the maxi dial and hour hand which makes these imho - if I’d fitted a black insert I might still have mine. I think my brother has one with a flat 4 insert he’s never worn from new - might suggest he thinks about moving it on!

I remember being offered one in 2004 for under £2500 in a Barbados AD, I wasn’t interested because I was after a Speedmaster.Originally Posted by Afhgus;[URL="tel:5391152"
Interesting thread...lovely pic of the 4 together too...
We should have a fun guess at what the next Kermit will be...Tudor P01 anyone?
