reading lamps - what a mine field

    Hi All

looking (pun hah) for a good quality reading lamp, could go a side table or stand tall i.e. behind the chair/sofa.

    Any recommendations please gratefully received.

    thanks!

I got one of these a few months ago, the light quality is excellent for reading and doing close up little jobs.

Ive never had much luck with lamps

My bedside one (which I in effect use as a reading lamp) is haunted I think as it often turns itself on in the middle of the night

Mrs r1ch bought one of these a while back:

Until this thread, I'd not checked it out on the website.
I have to say it is really very good, but sh*t a brick, I hadn't realised she'd spent that much on the bl**dy thing.

We have a couple of these behind the sofa; they also do a table-top version. The company that makes them is great; I had a technical query about dismantling one for transport and received an email within an hour (at 10pm) from the owner.

Had one of their table lams for probably 15 years now and its still going strong, so a good buy

Normally we bought new desk lamp every 2 years - they either broke down or looked like shit. This one still looks like new even after 12 years.

John Lewis and ikea do good lighting ranges at a spread of prices. Beware of 'cold white' lights though, warm lighting is always better IMHO even for reading as it seems to have less glare when reflected off the page.
