Must be my age, but Datejusts are growing on me. Mind you, I would be using them as dress watch.....(clings on to his youth)

A beautiful watch and a timeless classic.
A classic....
Looks great, really makes me want to find a blue faced datejust.
Just zoomed in on the picture. That is indeed an absolutely perfect dial and handset!
The classic DateJust and some lovely examples in this thread.
I'd be interested to know if you wear these as 'dress' watches or as 'daily' or 'casual' watches.
Would you buy a dress watch as well as a DateJyst in this configuration or is the DateJust dressy enough.
I'm kind of feeling a little love for DJs but the jubilee bracelets just never look as good as the oyster style to me. Not mad about the fluted bezels either. Conclusion is that's a cracking example and I'm a bit of a heathen.
My next purchase will hopefully be 116234 silver dial with fluted bezel and oyster bracelet. Best combo and most versatile one watch option imo. Utterly gorgeous...

I do like a DJ in an oyster but not with PCL
Good read that article ^^^ and surprisingly persuasive. On an oyster without pcls.
The opening of that Hodinkee article shows what a goldfish bowl they live in: "Ask any watch guy about Rolex, and chances are you'll get regaled with stories about rare vintage Daytonas or the high-tech, bi-color Cerachrome bezels on the new GMT."
Also: notice how many pieces from them start by talking about themselves and their little society?
You will start with Date-Just's and move on to Day-Dates. You have been warned😃

Stunning watch, really love these.
It is a classic, but not in the sense of the dive range, which seem to still compete head to head for attention with the new ceramic offerings.
The Datejust in the OP is just too small and well, dated and often tatty looking, it will soon only be seen on the wrists of old men.
Nothing wrong with admiration, but watches have moved on now. No doubt the revised Datejust will prove to be as popular as the previous one.
This for example - plenty of original DNA, super comfy bracelet and 41mm...

I reckon that the 36 mm DJs will age far better than their 41mm cousins.
Unless I develop 'gland problems' or spectacularly let myself go, my wrist is going to be a similar size in 50 years time so in 2066 a DJ2 will still look rediculous on me.
No comment on the OP but I agree that a tatty vintage DJ isn't anything to wow over. I had a very tidy 1601 from 1971 (head only) and it was a beautiful thing. Size wise it was perfect too.
You guys definitely made picking out of the watch box easier this morning...
