Having owned a few of the originals I wanted to try one of these,
Yes it's a 3712 and a COMPLETELY different watch to the 5712. If you don't behave, I'll bore you with the differences.

For the avoidance of doubt, I think you mean "5712/1A-001" there, correct? :-)
(Which, as per below, I now know it is not).
Ah, thank you. I hadn't really taken on board that there two models like this.
I found this interesting article: Differences between 3712 and 5712
Is the 5712 really hard to get?
It's actually nowhere near as hard to get as the 3712, which was only made for a period of around 9 months. To my knowledge he 5712 has been made for around 10 years now. Estimates on the number of 3712's seem to range between 200 and 500. I don't know what the true figure is.
I was having no luck getting a 5712 at the right price and then I was offered a 3712 at a much higher price, but it somehow seemed a better price. You weren't hoping for logic were you?
I picked this up for very little from eBay at the beginning of the year. It was missing a balance - I fancied a bit of a project.
Here it is up and running. I am waiting for Carl at GGB to take orders again and will get a Horween strap for it.
I know the relume on the hands will make some cringe but I rather like the contrast.
Was testing out an eBay snipe tool a week or so ago. It worked so this little Mido arrived today. Will need some love, but quite pleased with it. 18mm mesh on 19mm lugs for now
A. Schild movement inside with the date quickset by pushing the crown. A new one for me.
Been after a Speedmaster for ages, but so much choice. I decided that I wanted an automatic, but not overly keen on the newer ones with the little date window. I was then offered a reduced in trade for a watch I had listed for sale in SC and that was it. It is slightly smaller than the moon watch, but I like the layout of the face, especially the numbers at the five minute markers. Thanks to Paul (Cat7), I now own my first Speedmaster. I have placed a WTB for a bracelet, but the black leather strap on it looks good and is very comfortable.

Sword hands. That is all.
I just love those old Universals with the sword hands! Usually they're a bit on the small side but looking great. I used to have a nice one but with only the hour hand sword shape, minute hand straight. I believe that was also common for Universal in this period. Congrats!
Joined a week ago and had 3 spaces in my watch box. Sinn 556i ordered today.
Photos to follow when it arrives. 2 spaces left!
This arrived today. My first Rolex and I'm delighted with it. Pleasurable deal with Barryboy from this forum also!

Picked a couple of pieces up last week while trawling ebay, didn't pay a fortune so pretty happy really i was looking at the sicura jump hour watches but I didn't really want to pay there prices, anyway I picked this up ,it had no strap and this is the only one I had to fit it,a bit of a struggle getting it on as the bars need to be bent and the nato was a little thick,I'll have to see what it should be on,next up memostar alarm watch in great order and fully working ,now I can't upload a pic
