I know we have a thread that asks what car do you drive, but looking at some old snaps I wonder what cars , as we do with watches , we have let go but wish we still had !

Every once in a while I go on ebay and Autotrader and think about buying one. But then I worry that it would not live up to my fond memories.

In fact I would like any of them, just for the nostalgia trip, maybe not the Talbot Avenger but that was a disposable stop gap for a month... 😀

Don't have a driving licence. Called it quits after one driving lesson. But I've always had a ridiculous fondness for the Triumph Dolomite. And the Ford Capri with the big (2.8?) engine. A pure totty magnet back in the day.

Got a mint one in my collection, sealed envelope, from a dealers personal collection.
Also had the Capri 2.0 S !! I think I was a 'Proffesionals' groupie !! 😀
Same for me. Brought one when I was 21. It was 9 months old, graphite grey, immaculate. Loved running it for about 6 years. Didn't have to do much to it in all that time. Great fun to drive!
Mazda XEDOS 6, 2.0l V6 with auto box, i loved the fake wood dash and the kickdown on the autobox was awesome.
It cost me £500 and I traded it in for £400. I regret trading it into to this day.
By MILES my old imported Suzuki Capp, disintegrated around me but I loved it so much. Japanese owner had set it up perfectly & I just de-limited it with an N1 ECU & we flew around the B roads in N.Devon. Every corner was a joy.
Renault 16 GTX Auto. Drove like an armchair. Would cruise all day. Did the Black Forest to Doncaster in 15 1/2 hours and that was in the days before Belgium had that lovely motorway.
Focus ST. It was a company car as well! Unfortunately they're no longer available an option on our scheme.

When I sold this it was the right thing to do, but I'd take it back in a heartbeat...
My Renault 5 GT turbo. It was my first car and a mint unmodified example. Sold it 10 years ago for 1500 probably worth 3-4 times that now.
Sadly I don't have a picture of it but i wish I still had my 1965 Mk1 Ford Cortina.
I bought it in 1988 for £25 put it through its mot which only needed a small plate on the sill. It needed a new carb kit and bushing to the column change linkage which my bother had in stock as he used to work for an old Ford Garage. I had it sprayed racing green and me and my brother ran it for about a year.
Great story but one evening whilst I was round my brothers he had a knock at the door and a chap was stood there who's father bought it new in 1965. He had the photos of it and everything....pretty amazing.
Anyway he made us an offer we couldnt refuse and we sold it for £1800.
Wish I stil had it now.

Minis when they were cheap. Had vans, pickups, coopers - all bought and sold for pennies. If only I'd had the foresight to put 'em in a barn.

Fast and fun but a bit wayward in the rain with the back stepping out, terrible fuel economy and burnt through the oil as well.

Oh, there's a few I'd like to have kept but probably top of the list would be the G plate Audi Quattro Turbo I had, great car, great looks & great to drive. Or maybe the E plate Brooklands Capri......

Only car I regret selling and would be ideal for me now, is the 1998 volvo v70 T5 I bought from here about 5 years ago and sold a year later when I lost the estate v people carrier argument with the wife. It was replaced by a zafira for her. Sigh

My first motor, some git nicked the CD player so I rewired it under the seat. Prodigy Invaders must die was stuck in there for most of it's life. Sadly long since gone to the parking lot in the sky.

The first properly fast car I had, but I think I miss it most because it was cruelly taken from me prematurely when I was hit head on by a "joy" rider who wrote it off. Not a great day out.
I know these days the image is terrible but I think I'll have another one day.

1972 MGB Roadster in teal blue. I loved that car but it was just too expensive for a newly employed 22 year old to run.
Every time I've bought a car it's been an upgrade compared to the one before.
I wouldn't have any of my old ones back.

205 1.9. Had three of them, and the most fun I've ever had in a car.
Reliant Sabre. I had a few Scimitar SS1 models before, but the addition of the K series and the restyle made it as good a small British sports car as any. At the time I persuaded my wife to be to get an SS1 turbo and we had an enormous amount of fun pissing around on country roads. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I didn't. I probably should have. The 1.4 K is enormously underrated in lightweight sports cars IMHO.
I am no racer Andy but just loved pushing them up on just three wheels around corners.
I'd have any of these back in a heartbeat - either for sentiment or financial appreciation.
