I've just spent five minutes looking at the listing trying to figure out why that model is called the Underpant Accident.

Notorious bad quality of 70s gaskets and equally bad quality blue paint means stripped paint at the edges.
Also appears on the gray ones, but their paint seems to be a bit more stable. Although this example is far from bad!

For me the 7736 powered Monaco is the least desirable one, the three subs don't work for me with the square dial. Prefer the 7740 or cal.11-12 myself.

Plain white on black always works best for me on a Monaco.

I've yet to see a 'coloured' one that I'd take in preference.

I agree on the three sub dials much prefer the classic two.

ok, but there's only a few of those PVD ones out there. Good luck finding one of those if you can afford it (the one at the Bonhams/Haslinger auction sold for nearly $75K). Or do you mean the TAG version?

Can't help thinking there is some skull dugery going on with the bids which have gone from 99 cents to + 5200 US in just over 24 hours !!!! And automatic bids to match the above

see: accidental, unplanned, unassisted and rather unfortunate reflex ejeculation in one's underwear (or 'shorts' as you colonials prefer) should one be wearing any.

I once told here of when I had the opportunity to buy one of these, which was in the pre owned section of a Norwich jewellers I was passing a good few years back. I was without funds at the time, but went in and strapped it on anyway. The young shaver behind the counter told me it was a 're issue'. OK.

    £1750.

Went back four days later after calling in a favour...........GONE!

    Nuuuursse!!!

    The TAG one, I guess.

Each to their own, of course, but that's my preference.

Thanks. I did figure it out eventually.

And I thought you called them "pants," and laugh uproariously when we say pants to mean trousers. I say underwear, too, but I'm awfully pretentious.
