Thread: Tudor Pelagos

    Tudor Pelagos

So just tried one on. I like it, not too light like some Ti watches, clear uncluttered dial, lovely finish, good size and the clasp is full of innovation.

    But....

Why did they make the bloody clasp so flippin' ugly! All that business on it is just such a turn off! The underneath mechanism with springs is prettier!

For me it's almost a show stopper. Tell me why I am wrong?!

I think you are right. That type of clasp is not killing with beauty.

I know what you mean, it's not an elegant clasp design. I don't think it detracts too much from what is a fantastic watch though and hasn't taken it from near the top of my want list.

And unless you're one of those odd balls that wears the clasp/buckle at the top of your wrist I don't think its too much of an issue.

I never notice the clasp on a day to day basis but when I do I think it looks great. It is one of my favourites.

All down to preference at the end of the day though.

It comes with Rubber and you can always get a NATO...

For what it is, its a bargain head only IMO

Ian, generally you are right but when I am paying so much money for watch, I prefer to like all of his parts :)

    +1

I still think it's a good looking watch, and still might be tempted.

It can be tempted for sure. Just some of us pay a lot of attention for details. Solution for those is to change it on strap :D

I'm in the process of liquidating the cheaper pieces in my collection with an eye on getting the Pelagos. Shame I can't find anyplace near me to try one on, just going to have to go based on pictures I've seen of it compared to things like the Ceramic Submariner which I can try on.

I understand the OPs view in theory but must confess not really thinking about it when wearing it.
But truth be told my Pelagos rarely leaves the Isofrane anyway.

This is the best modern watch you can wear on a isofrane imho

That does look good on the Isofrane, though personally I'd rather go vintage and have a Snowflake but as a modern alternate I think the Pelagos looks a lot better than the BB.

I wonder if one of the Rubber B / Everest straps might fit the Pelagos?

It's impossible to choose, have to go all in...

I very much doubt that since both of those straps are very tailored to specific Rolex references as I understand it.

You're probably right, just thought the DSSD case might not be too dissimilar to the Pelagos but I've not handled one to actually know. I've a Rubber B on my DSSD and certainly it's a chunk of rubber between the lugs and only fits the DSSD, whereas the one on my Sub fits the SD and Tudor Snowflake too.

which is a distinct improvement, and something that I didn't know they had done.

Al they have got to do now is lose the clunky font on the bezel.

    Well done Tudor

Grandtour on the first look is very nice. Mostly because I like connection of black and red colour (more black and some small red marks). But in that one is something what makes that I definitly wouldn`t take that one.... I hate such fonts like they used on the besel. :/

I was offered a Pelagos at an airport duty free shop for about £2400. Lovely watch but I wasn't buying.

I could probably put up with the clasp. It's the silly 'ROTOR SELF-WINDING' text on the dial that completely puts me off. What's wrong with 'Automatic'?

I like the clasp and I don't even own a Pelagos...

  27. #27
I assume those prices are quoted in Euros?

How much was the Heritage chrono ?

pelagos appears to be available for around €3k euro on chrono24 from Dutch/German dealers

Well I think the answer is Isofrane then looking at the pics above! Which is interesting as the older Tudor models look great on them as well. For me the bracelet auto sizing is not really necessary.... I would think thats the same for most people? lovely innovation but not very pretty. I like the quality of the bracelets but for this watch I think the bracelets are not special enough for the rest of the watch. The head is delicious in its unfussy style...so the clasp is at odds with that. Doesn't work for me.

Luckily the head is one that works really well on a number of alternatives and the Isofrane and Natos look great. I don't think I will be looking to get one of these as it does not sing to me but I do appreciate it none the less.

Now I just need to find a Black Bay to try on...

    BB rocks!

I don't like the bracelet clasp of the BB so I bought it on leather. But I've tried it on Natos & Isofrane and it looks just as good!

I love the clasp: function over form.

I think it is my favourite watch.......
