I honestly didn't understand that statement until you said it was an owners club!!
I still don't TBH.
“
At IWC we’ve always embraced the pioneer spirit, facing the future today. We build on our owners’ mindset to bring value to the Web3 term "Diamond Hands", where it stands for nerves of steel and investment loyalty. With our IWC Diamond Hand Club community we aim to explore the metaverse beyond the known rules. Building a holistic ecosystem and providing our community with interconnected benefits.”
I think they have gone too far. It’s an owners club?

When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
It's a digital club, only 1868 spaces initially - but you have to be invited. There's much better things to be doing with your time.
Richemont at its best, they need to distract seeing as IWC's releases of late have left many drifting off to sleep...
Sounds like their April Fool's press release got leaked...
They haven't gone far enough. Idiocy has no measure.
Jeez, maybe a young person will come along and tell us it all makes perfect sense.

WTH?! Madness to get entangled in that. I doubt it will reflect well on their watches, or whatever fancy name they might now be called...
Can’t make it up:
one online dictionary:
Diamond Hands Defn:
A delusion self-congratulatory label for someone who has not idea when to buy and especially when to sell a stock. Supposedly one who refuses to sell despite temporary downturns and marginal gains to hold on long enough to hit the big win and attain fantasy stock-picker-genius status. But, in reality, has no clue how trading or investing actually works and squanders the meagre life-savings accumulated from their $35,000 a year loser job, pawning their electric guitar, and stealing money from their mother's top dresser drawer.
Ed: So, you gonna sell the Game Stop shares now? Doubling your money to $10,000 in three days is pretty cool!
Norton: No way, man, I got diamond hands, I'm holding on all the way to the top!
Ed: So, now that it's crashed what are you gonna do?
Norton: I still got $350 in my account, I'm holding on till GME hits $1,000 per share. Diamond Hands, bitches!
Ed: NO, you cannot sleep on my floor.
It’s a shame as I like some IWC watches but that has rather put me off.

Hmm. Coincidentally, I received this watch, this morning.
And it reminds me of the gold old days of the early noughties when I first got into watches. Yes, I know I'm an old fart, but Worn and Wound is doing a series of reviews of watches from before their website was founded, and this jumped out at me, from their review of the IWC 3706.
These days I find myself hankering for watches built twenty years ago. It’s easy to think of the time between 1994 and 2005, the years during which the 3706 was in production, as a more innocent period. These years largely predate social media, and what many would consider the invention of modern watch enthusiast culture.
Not sure this is the kind of club for me

Hello, John!
One of my favourite things about 20 years ago was that the watches that I liked were available. A member here helped me get a 16600 SeaDweller - he had the call, the timing was bad. The lady in the shop asked me (after I'd paid, mind), "Is this for you, or to sell on?" It was for me.
18-20 years ago, the top hits were an IWC Ocean 2000, a lovely 3536 in titanium - I used to say that no one did titanium like IWC. (Although I think Seiko are pretty close now.) I had a Panerai titanium base - a 116 - when the Panerai range was almost entirely Unitas h/w and 7750s in the autos. Interesting anniversary Seiko 5s, sometimes - I was an ace face at the dealer in Qatar!
Then oddities like Anonimo - I still hold a candle for the Militare, the weirdo with the crown at 12, and the Millemetri. After the 3536 came the 3538, with the twin crown and internal bezel - took one of those on holiday around Thailand, lovely watch. Early Kinetic Seiko Landmasters. I b.ought a Sinn EZM2 for £400.
Checking my book, I bought a Sinn EZM1 for £950 (from Sparmar1 of this forum, I think!). A SeaDweller for list! And, of course, Damaskos, from when Eddie was the dealer. I had DC66 #21, I think! A great watch and I still have a WTB for one! IWC UTC - slightly bigger than the XV, just a millimetre, I think!
Things like that. I think I preferred WIS-ness back then.
If there was a Rolex club I wonder what their entry criteria would be?
I think even as recently as 5 years back people were interested in having a wider variety of brands and watches. Now it feels people don’t want to take a risk trying something left field as either they “won’t make money on it” or they won’t be able to flex it around their hard to impress friends.
Rant over.
Also love IWC, I think they ooze class.

I don't even know where to begin with this...

Drivel
Chronologically I think we get stuck with whatever was going on when we were having the best time. For me it was the late 70s early 80s, Flightmasters, Speedmasters, even a hand-wound Tudor Monaco.
As for the tinternet in the early 2000s... Well, we were still learning and the new discoveries were manifesting gradually as people were putting them on the net. Now everything is a click away so what is there to talk about?
Now we've got a lot more people into the subject and I think in due course it will pay off. I love seeing the evolution. Some will go up and some will come down. Also I think that soon it will become unfashionable to be Branding. Once you take away the brand, then what have you got?
