What’s going on with these video adverts?

Looking on the forum today and some large hairy thing keeps appearing.
    Well I don’t like it!

    How can I loose it.

Use an iPad. Thanks for your anticipated help.

They're getting around the blocker on my tablet, and if you scroll past, then the go down to the grey bar at the bottom.

No offence though I'm glad it's not just me, I'm getting them on both my mobile and laptop using Chrome. They're fricking annoying.

Try Safari, I'm not getting any video ads on Smartphone or MacBook.

I'm not going to run a blocker because the ads pay Eddie's hosting fees.

Just started getting these video ads on my iPad (using Safari). Already using Purify ad blocker which had been doing a decent job up to now.

I don't mind the adverts but what is annoying the video adverts scroll up and down the screen. When typing a post, the video advert takes the upper half of phone screen covering what it is being typed.

The adverts can be every few posts or fixed points which is fine, but the scrolling adverts are annoying.

Just applied this suggestion which seems to do the trick, many thanks for the hint.

I understand the need to fund the forum but having such intrusive ads will just lead to more people blocking them and cutting off the revenue stream.

Months of not being able to open threads and forums because of them and now auto play videos that won't disappear.

Why can’t you open the threads and forums?

Don't block the ads or you might suddenly find there is no forum.

Like others, I'd happily pay to be ad free.

I'd edit your posts OP, the man who allows the ads doesn't allow profanity in the public areas of the forum.

I'm going to download an ad blocker, as the pop-ups videos are starting to blot the forum in my eyes, I'd gladly pay a subscription fee to Eddie rather than see those ad's...

Surely with all the time you spend here you've seen the threads moaning about the top 4 threads being unopenable, likewise watchtalk?

It's been going on for months, I would spend a minute to see if you'd posted in a thread that covered it if I could be bothered, I suspect you have...

Let us know which one and if it works?

I was having this issue on my Google Pixel and looked at the settings as I now work in IT support (but without any knowledge or experience). I did not change anything or download anything but switched phone off and on and the problem of the scrolling videos has fixed itself.

It’s just the video adds that are really annoying me.

I’ll have to use a blocker if they continue.

I’ve said before, I’d pay a fee to be add free.

I mostly use a Mac and Safari so don't get many problems, and to be honest I thought he meant he couldn't open any of the threads with ads on. (they all have them). Never gave it a thought that he meant the problem with the top few threads not opening.

But hey, knock yourself out and have a search if it makes you feel better old chap.

“You know what, you have to do what I did in January. They didn’t report that. You have to clean your computer ok? I’ve got mine the cleanest there is, I think anywhere. They’re saying that, right, the experts, it’s the cleanest they’ve seen. But they’re not reporting it. You know what you do, You know what you do? You’ve got to clean it, polish it, shiny shiny ‘til it’s like new. Mr Sheen, they don’t tell you that, no one knows more about clean computers than I do.”
