September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight and support the numerous children who have been affected by cancer.
In June many of us were deeply touched by the news of ten-year-old Finn Clancy, whose dream was to get more than 1,000 subscribers to the YouTube channel he set up while going through cancer treatment. Finn kept a 'jolly' temperament despite rigorous chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Very sadly Finn passed away just a couple of weeks later, however it is good to know that he saw the subscribers to his YouTube channel soar way beyond his goal. You can read more about Finn here: https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...be-subscribers
As so many TZers were involved in supporting Finn I have asked his family to nominate one of the beneficiaries for our Gold September fundraiser. Lorraine, his mum, has appropriately requested that a local charity called 'Gold Geese' receive donations in Finn's memory.
My Speedbird III is up for grabs and once again several members have generously added to the prize pot. There must be something to meet most peoples tastes.
The Charities
Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens is a Cancer Research campaign that raises money to beat cancers affecting children and young people (aged 0-24). The money raised supports vital research to new, better and kinder treatments so more of this age group survive cancer, and do so with a good quality of life.
Gold Geese is based locally to Finn’s mother and uses donations towards spreading awareness, providing gifts and organising memorable events, as well as funding therapy and additional support for those children diagnosed with cancer and their families.
The Prizes
1. Speedbird III PRS-22
2. Seiko Bell-Matic donated by JohnnyE
3. Citizen Automatic Diver donated by subchris
4. Casio G-Shock G-2000-1 donated by subchris
5. Casio G-Shock DW-5750E-1ER donated by JackW
6. Mystery Consolation Prize courtesy of Suds
7. Another Mystery Consolation Prize
As usual, there will be some surprise prizes along the way if all goes well!
The Raffle
To take part, please post in this thread and donate £5 per entry to either https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/be-jolly or https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/goldseptember. The choice is entirely yours. Please do not feel obliged to donate to both, I'm sure that things will balance out over the fortnight.
I am hoping to raise a similar sum for each worthy cause, however because Gold Geese is not yet registered with any fundraising website I have to collect donations for them separately via the JustGiving Crowdfunding Page above. This means that I will be personally responsible for making the transfers to Gold Geese. I will post proof of the donations here, and for total transparency anybody may contact the Gold Geese trustees at hello@goldgeese.org for confirmation.
PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF PARTICIPATING! If you would prefer to make a donation directly to Gold Geese just let me know by PM and I’ll still enter you for the draw.
I will personally cover the 5% JustGiving fee AND the 1.25% processing costs when I make the final transfer, so that Gold Geese will receive every penny that you donate.
Feel free to take part multiple times and if you are not interested in the prizes, you are welcome to donate anyway!
Please include your TZ-UK user name in the comments if it's not obvious.
As usual, I’ll maintain a list of the participants here and will let this run for a fortnight. Laura will personally draw the winners on Sunday 30 September. If I've made any glaring errors please let me know.
Prize Details
Speedbird III PRS-22 that I received in a trade with seikopath earlier this year (so you can trust that it’s a good 'un) and unworn by me. One of my favourites from the Timefactor’s stable, with the well balanced 39mm diameter, supremely legible dial and handset. The bracelet with the neat centre clasp is superb.
This is a 2010 watch in very good condition. It includes the full length bracelet, currently sized for about a 7” wrist. It comes with original case, guarantee card and cloth. I'll cover postage to anywhere in the world.
JohnnyE has donated a gorgeous Seiko Bell-Matic:
The dial and handset are immaculate. Brand new correct plexiglass fitted which is immaculate. Dated August 1976. The original integrated bracelet is big enough for a 7.25 inch wrist but has no spare links (a clasp extender would add an inch if needed).
42mm across including the crown.
Approximately 40mm lug to lug.
12mm high.
The watch runs well and the mechanical alarm works like a charm and is very loud.
subchris has donated a Citizen Automatic Diver and a Casio G-Shock G-2000-1
Both absolutely classics, need I say more? Neither have been worn very much whilst in Chris’s care, the Citizen comes with a Seiko rubber strap and the Casio has a spare strap included.
JackW has donated a Casio G-Shock DW-5750E-1ER, 3 months old, in as-new condition. It's an absolutely lovely retro-inspired G-Shock.
Our sincere thanks to John, Chris, Hidde and of course to Eddie.

I'll update the list below as often as I can, roughly in the order that posts and donations appear. I will have limited connectivity during the next few days, so apologies if it sometimes takes a while. The list will not become final until just before the draw.
