Agreed, watched it here with Dutch subtitles :-)
It managed to subdue all but the most boorish middle-aged Dutchmen, who spent the whole film ridiculing the whole thing!
Well deserving of an Oscar or 2, expected a nomination for best Supporting Actor for the best portrayal of Hitler ever!
Turkish language film 'Mustang' (2015) is superb and still available on bbc iPlayer. It's about 5 orphaned sisters growing up in a concervative society. Very powerful with superb acting. Highly recommended.
French movie Hors Normes. In English The Specials. A new movie with Vinz Kassel. In art houses only I suppose.
This movie is made by the people who made Intouchable. An absolute must-see movie.
Search for The Specials on IMDB for the story,
Menno
I watched Hustle with J Lo, on the plane on the way to NYC, It is a must watch if you like Jennifer Lopez
The Fundamentals of Caring. Netflix.
“ in this inspiring buddy comedy, a young shut-in and his caregiver take a road trip in search of landmarks but end up finding hope and friendship.”
Great movie, check it out.

I've not long watched Lock Stock, Snatch.....um.....The Gentlemen.
Lets face it,with Guy Ritchie you know exactly what you are getting. Although it's hardly groundbreaking it is enjoyable. I personally thought both Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell were inspired castings and were superb characters. Charlie Hunnam couldn't act his was out of a soggy paper bag, and what accent was he supposed to have. It seemed at different times American,Irish, dodgy English (a la King Arthur) and on a couple of occasions seemed to be some random Tyneside effort. I can tell help think that he got the part 'cause he is mates with Guy Ritchie and for no other reason.
1917 - lived up to the hype.
Probably not as good as Dunkirk mind!
Leave No Trace. Superb performances from the two leads. Not an easy going film but a good story and strong characters. Highly recommend.
'NIGHT HUNTER' on Amazon Prime. (costs £0.99p)
A cross between Silence of the Lambs and Law Abiding Citizen, I think is the best way to describe it.
Hugely enjoyable thriller.

My wife & I went to see 1917 on New Years Eve - we don't mind going to watch films at odd times as it often means that the cinema's quiet which is the way we prefer it. My wife wasn't sure about seeing it but every time I looked at her during the film she seems absolutely engaged by it. We both thought that it was utterly superb & I, being a bit of a softy, found it quite emotional.
I thought the single shot technique worked fantastically well & really made you - as in the audience - very much part of the story/action. It's a bit grim in places but not gratuitously so & given the setting/subject matter not really surprising. You wouldn't be able to make a film about the trenches/front line in the First World War without some death & destruction in it would you? I thought the 2 lead actors were brilliant (very natural performances) & the film is about them & their mission really - most of the other actors are in it for short periods of time & have little more than cameo roles. These cameo's, although short, aren't wasted, add to the story & are extremely well played - in fact there aren't any poor performances in the film at all.
As I've said already it is, without doubt, an utterly superb film & I would encourage you all to go & see it.

Once upon a time in Holywood. Excellect film.
1917. Great film. In fact, the best thing I’ve watched on the big screen for a number of years. 100% recommended. I was totally engaged and sad for it to end.

Just watched "Hidden Figures" (again).
Enjoyed it just as much the second time.
Just watched S.Craig Zahler's ' Dragged Across Concrete'. Superb thriller and available on Prime now.
'Uncut Gems' by the Safdie brothers is fabulous and on Netflix right now
Dolemite on Netflix is a real feel good movie, with Eddie Murphy back on top form. It's formulaic and quite cheesy, but it's well done and the vibe is spot on.
I've just booked a short break to Bruges for the better half's birthday in May... it would be rude to not stay at the same hotel as Ken and Ray, so the Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce it is.
I watched the film (or should that be fillum) again yesterday... can thoroughly recommend In Bruges
Ad Astra, the story is average but it's a complete visual treat, the space scenes are amazing.
Red Joan on Netflix. Although I wish I had watched it before seeing The Trial of Christine Keeler as I kept thinking of Sophie Cookson in the other role.

Another vote for 1917.
Well made film, with a real sense of tension and jeopardy and some excellent performances, but a few parts didn't ring quite true to me, so an 8/10, but worth a trip to the cinema.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
I'm still sat on the sofa wondering if I was trolled. My wife's gone to bed raging. It was terrible. I'm tempted to find someone I hate at work tomorrow and tell them it's amazing but I don't think I have the balls.
Probably already been posted several times but I watched Mule over the weekend with Clint Eastwood.
Fantastic film imo and was pleased that they didn't make him some kind of oap badass.
If you're like me and a die hard Eastwood fan it's also very hard to see the guy as he is now, think of Eastwood and you think Dirty Harry and not some very frail elderly gentleman.
Just got round to Ford v Ferrari. Good film if you like motor racing. I thought Christian Bale was outstanding.
Joker. Dark and moody. Take a bow Joaquin Phoenix great acting.

The Mule is good if you’ve not seen it.
And a random one I’ve only just seen for the first time - Play Misty for me.
I wouldn’t say I’m an OTT Clint fan, but they’re both quality in their own ways.
Just finished watching The Prodigy. Was a decent film to be fair. Wasn't expecting much from it but turned out pretty decent.
Also Hereditary was a good one aswell.
Chris.
"Apostle" with Michael Sheen is good (and dark). Directed by Gareth Evans who directed "The Raid".
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
I watched 'The Rhythm Section' last night....... initial thoughts were that it dragged a bit in places. It also required some large leaps of faith in the narrative and some of the screenplay was somewhat predictable & hackneyed.
That said my overall thoughts were that it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't ever watch it again. So what's it doing in this thread then? Well, on balance, I thought it was better than crap and therefore good....but only just.
REVOLUTIONARY ROAD
Rather splendid tale with Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet; it certainly ain't Titanic 2 (even though Kathy Bates is in it too)
Americans might love the NY swagger and swearing and shouting. I dont. The film was far too shouty and sweary.
But well made and Julia Fox as his attractive mistress was very good. You would have thought she was just a sex bomb out to catch a rich guy but she was much more than that. She actually loved that idiot Adam Sandlers character. I felt for her.
