Still a fine looking design after all those years!
If they did a tegimented version of the 656, it would probably be my one and only watch, no need for another :)
Cheers,
Daddel.
Inspired by a "2 year on" review another member posted on their U1000 chrono, I thought I'd write a brief review on what was my first Sinn. An 856 bought brand new by me from Chronomaster back in December 2005, making it well over 5 years old now. I've worn it a lot in that time, although obviously in rotation with many others!
This is one of Sinn's tegimented models and I have to say the case looks immaculate to my eyes even after 5+ years. It is also one of Sinn's models that uses a copper sulphate capsule, and although not pure white anymore it is only a light shade of blue - I've tried to photograph it below. Timekeeping is still fine at +6s a day and exactly the same in all positions.
Despite all the other Sinns in my collection now I still come back to this one more than any other.
regards,
Nick

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Nice, one of the Sinns I've always admired. That finish is definitely holding up.
Oh, and have to agree with Daddel, a tegi 656 would be a superb thing.

Cool watch.
Looks like you went for the same strap combo I did.
Good to see other members who keep watches for the long term rather than doing all of this flipping nonsense. I do miss having a Sinn in my wee group ( the 656 and UX went to fund my first Damasko, a DC67). I would like to think I will have another Sinn at some point, likely a 756.

Only recently changed mine, but felt it needed a nice thick strap. Going through a phase of liking black dials on brown straps.Originally Posted by himpossible

Quite right. Perhaps non-flippers need to be more vocal on the forum. :)Originally Posted by magirus

I've downsized my collection a fair bit over the last couple of years, but most of what I have left I've had for a while. My 656 has been with me for almost 7 years, a Seamaster GMT for nearly 6 and both my Oris Miles and DC57 are over 5 years in my ownership.Originally Posted by Pablo

Truly great watches in my opinion. I have been through several flipping stages and the 856 has survived them all. I have had it about 4 years now I think.
Yes, resurrecting an old thread, but wondering if anyone knows what the strap is in original post? I recently acquired an 856 but it only has the rubber which I don't like for a pilot's watch.
Very handsome watch
Thanks for the read and the photos. Hard to believe that's a 5 years old watch!
Wow, never had one of my own threads resurrected before!
The 856 is still going strong - well over 7 years of ownership now.
I believe the strap I had on it in the original photo is a Hirsch Liberty, for the poster who asked.
Regards,
Nick
For those that are interested I ended up with a Darlena Rustic in black instead of a Hirsch

It's served me well, and looks great but a couple of things are starting to bother me. It's not that long at 125mm so the end doesn't really have much to go in the keeper and I think something a little less chunky may fit the watch better. The 2mm taper means that at the buckle it's about 8mm high (doubled) and only 18mm wide and it looks a bit odd.
The search continues...
Really helpful these long term reviews, great to hear the relationships been a good one
Just to continue with this thread and not to open a new one, I am considering myself buying a Sinn 856 non-utc version. My only drawback is the crown. I find it to big in the pictures and I will like to know if anyone with Sinn 856 version are having issues with the crown constantly digging if their wrist.
Please let me know your experience.
Thanks
No issues with the crown here.
I'm in this thread in 2011 hoping they will produce a 40mm tegimen
ted version.
They have now, and I'm the proud owner of a 856 non-utc.
As for the crown? That watch is perfectly comfy, slim, not to big and light. No "digging in" at all.
This watch can do it all and yet looks so simple, a design classic.

Ok, thanks Alun & Daddelvirks for your comments.
