Techne weren't around long in their original guise as, I believe, the same person who owns it then started the Gavox brand. It looks like it's been restarted recently but with cheaper quartz models.

The dial rot was a common issue on the black dial 7016s, its rare to see an original dial as most have been replaced or reprinted. A similar thing happened on the first Omega PloProfs

H556-5050 from 1984 which I've had for a number of years.
They seem to crop up on eBay now advertised as Seiko "Burke Aliens" due to being worn by Paul Reiser in the 1986 classic sequel to Alien.

My normal Friday watch on a new (to me) strap
(edit: Not that it matters to anyone but me but the strap is darker in real life than it looks here. In the photo that looks almost exactly like a Ferreti strap I have but this Toshi (Papaya) is definitely darker)
