Just remembered, something that's been bugging me through both seasons.
Why, when it is set just 5yrs after ROTJ and in the same part of the galaxy (Tatooine and there abouts), does no one seem to know who or what a Jedi is or know anything about the force?
Exactly - plus (puts on nerdy voice) it’s a big universe, a lot of the Mandalorian takes place in ‘the outer rim’ which is the equivalent to the middle of nowhere, and the Empire might have declared ‘Jedi and the force - its all fairy stories’ to keep people from uprising. That’s how my inner nerd has always justified it anyway!
By my count (and I’m no expert), there were only 3 Jedi left alive in the Return of the Jedi, and only 1 by the end (unless you count Leia). They weren’t a huge part of the galaxy I guess so wouldn’t be that well known? Or maybe it’s just bad continuity ...
The Jedi were so unknown that Uncle Owen felt OK wandering around dressed in the uniform of a proscribed terrorist organisation!
I don't have a problem with the episodes telling more or less separate, complete stories, but the trying to tie everything together in the last two episodes of season one really fell flat IMO. Suddenly the closest thing to a main villain the show had was brushed aside for a guy we hadn't seen or heard of before, but was still supposed to care about as a powerful and personal menace to the heroes? That's not how it works.
New characters and name dropping. The plot thickens according to the SW fanatics in this house (wife and youngest son).
Nice to see Titus Welliver (Bosch on Amazon Prime) as well.
Menno
Great to see them continuing The Clone Wars storyline.
well great to see "Johnny Ringo" - Tombstone in episode 5
As a Clone Wars fan, that was an excellent episode.
It’s getting better as it goes along
Just started watching this in the last week, enjoying it so far.
This keeps getting better and better. The latest episode is fantastic.
Really enjoying. Interesting plot lines, a bit of humour, lots of references to previous Star Wars stuff and proper villains.
I cannot help thinking I am watching a SiFi version of spaghetti westerns with a bit of John Wayne (Rooster Cockburn) thrown in for good measure, but then it is effectively a road series.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

It’s so weird.. I hated the follow on movies and had resigned myself to the fact that Star Wars was just another cash cow to milk. But I just really enjoy The Mandalorian for so many reasons. Kudos to Jon Favreau for the vision!
Not weird at all imho! As a lifelong Star Wars fan since I saw the first film aged 8, I was amazed at how dreadful the recent sequel trilogy was - I have no interest in them as the characters and story were just plain stupid, whereas The Mandalorian is absolutely brilliant. You have to ask yourself how they got the movies so wrong when Mando is so right!

Its great and agree its much like a western....or Kung Fu with David Caradine (need to be old)...
Characters have developed well and last 2-3 episodes have been really enjoyable......
You know your sad when your over 50 and watch it on Friday morning with breakfast ....
I have the misfortune of having watched all of the episodes in a week and a half and now have to wait a week until the next one!
They took the complete opposite approach to the prequels and sequels.
Give the audience what they want and show them more of the proper Star Wars universe not some self-knowing reinvented mess.
Even the root of it is the same as Star Wars ; Kurosawa Samurai movies which took their cues from Hollywood westerns and film noir.
Mandalorian lifts its idea from “Lone Wolf and Cub” which was a 70s era spaghetti samurai series of films about a wandering revenge seeking Ronin with his infant son. Very much like westerns.
I think its great ; it has just enough plot continuation from episode to episode but it doesn’t get ruled by it meaning you get the freedom of giving something familiar and fresh to the audience every week. Its genuinely entertaining in a way faithful to the original films that the last 8 Star Wars movies haven’t even bothered to attempt to replicate .
I watch Solo and Rise of Skywalker and don’t even recognise them as a Star Wars movie.
Mandalorian just feels so much like Star Wars they totally nailed it.

I’d give at least 50% of the credit to Dave Filoni. As the creator of The Clone Wars and Rebels, he kept the spirit of Star Wars alive. They really are both fantastic series, every bit as good as their live action counterparts. Many of the storylines he started in the two animated series are paying off now in The Mandalorian. Plus he’s a great X-Wing pilot.
I still enjoy The Mandalorian a lot, but this guy isn't exactly wrong...

It’s so easy to watch
Bite size chunks
Action - humour - hints of past
What’s not to like?
I’d like to see him rebuild his ship now though......

Can’t wait until later to watch it with my sons. Last day at work too
Make sure you watch past the credits on the last one of this series. It’s not just concept art........😉
Wow! Possibly the best thing I've seen in the Star Wars modern universe!
Wow...well what a finale!

Best episode ever, no spoilers but my 8 year old was literally jumping up and down at that!
Absolute A+ episode.
Love this programme and what an incredible way to end the season.
