odd marketing items by watch companies

I've just been looking for something in an old cupboard and came across a Rolex tea spoon.

What weird stuff have you received when buying a watch?

Anyone remember the Rolex tea spoons?

What possessed them to think a tea spoon was a good giveaway and when did they stop them.

Actually a coffee spoon and they were given away by Bucherer when the you bought a Rolex from them. No idea why though ;-)

That is very tacky, imo, and cheapens the brand as do their logoed wallets, etc.

Yep, Jase, with the different cities where Bucherer were located. At least 15 or so. I have heard some were solid silver but I have yet to find one.

Mines from Lucerne and I'm pretty sure its not silver. Maybe we should have an alternative "show us your Rolex" thread titled "show us your Rolex spoon" :)

I think Lucerne is one of the more commonly found ones, I have two so if we did have such a thread, my pics would be very much like yours ;-)

I have a Seiko lighter from (I’d guess) the early 80’s still in its presentation box. Based on a slim colibri lighter.

Had a few Tag golf towels over the years and still have a couple of Tag golf umbrellas in the garage somewhere.

I don't really understand why a German watch company should give away French wine.

i have visited a few swiss manufactures to shoot watches and usually come away with a few pairs of gloves to add to the collection (great for cleaning lenses as well as watches) but JLC gave me a box of chocolates, a small jar of honey from a hive on the roof of the manufacture and a leather covered wooden i-phone amplifier!? its just a block of wood with a cone to amplify and direct the sound.

i really should stick it on ebay.

they also opened a couple of bottles of Cristal at the end of the shoot

I've collected quite a bit of marketing tat over the years, some of it is quite nice

Alot of loupes, and gloves, travel cases, but off the top of my head the random ones.

Audemars Piguet - Xmas Baubles, Candles, RO Pens (these are super nice)
Blancpain - Carbon Money Clip, Random Purse Charm, Champange
    Breguet - Candle, drink coasters
    VC - Cigar case,
Bremont - Baseball Cap, Patches, Hip Flask
    GO - Swan Neck Keyring
    Hublot - Nylon Holdall
Moser - Funky Blue Wall Clock, Baseball Cap
Zenith - El Primero Desk Clock (Thanks to animalone), umbrella, flat cap

Think I got a bottle of Gin from someone too.

I want a Panerai torpedo model though :p

Is that for auctioneers? Or for destroying fakes?

    That is interesting.

Got a small collection here. The older ones are more ornate and silver plated, the later ones less fancy and stainless steel.
    Cheers,

I’ve got a couple of the Rolex umbrellas which I’ve thought are a bit random, but I guess there’s a Wimbledon / golfing connection?

Got 4 spoons (one for each of us) from Bucherer Lucerne with a single purchase.

A velvety pouch from M&W that was too big and unsuitable for the watch that it came with.

Bucherer St. Moritz gave me a candle in a ceramic cup type thing with a watch I bought from them.
