    Car boot Sunday

Not much around today but my instinct for buying something didn't let me down.
First thing was this large marine oil painting by George P Wiseman, 1906-1986.
Cost me seven quid. Who could say no ?

Next is this Popeye guitar. It plays 'Popeye the Sailorman' on a little musical box. Would make a great ringtone !

Then I found these Dutch aluminium foil artworks:

And finally a forties centre seconds wristwatch:

More finds next time hopefully !

Lovely picture, is it a tea clipper? Seems an absolute steal at seven quid, & the little watch is nice too.

    So do I.
It's a great relief after servicing one of these monsters:

Nearly April and I haven't bothered going to a single boot sale in 2018. Yet.....

    Car boot Sunday

What is the hit rate for picking up something really special compared to the number of car boots you go to? It always seems the professional car booters have already picked things clean when I go to one.

Sellers don't generally know what they're selling otherwise they wouldn't sell at car boot sales.
You have to be there really early.
Whilst sellers are setting up. 6.30am usually.
That's the secret for finding decent things.

Thanks, I love a good bargain and an early riser on the weekends so sounds ideal for me. :)

    Good finds

I've given up on boot sales around here, they're just full of tat that people can't shift on eBay. That's South Yorkshire for you.

Used to live on Merseyside and picked up some great bargains there including a couple of Accutrons in full working order. Oh, and a ladies Zenith too.
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

You think that's bad ! My auntie had a Westminster chime on her mantelpiece.
It was off beat and chimed just as the news headlines were being announced on TV.
She wouldn't let me near it !
