    How MUCH ???????

So who wants an hourglass? Marc Newsom and Hodinkee now have one on offer - not just any hourglass of course; this one is filled with nanoballs!!!

    https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ma...n-for-hodinkee

10 minutes for JUST $12,000. Oh, but hurry, only 100 will be made.

I don't like the sound of "approximately 10 minute batches". $12k and it might not actually be quite 10 minutes.

I think I'd rather buy myself a nice chronograph wrist watch for that price! Plus I'm sure the sound of the ball bearings would p*ss me off before the 10 minutes were up!

You'd think they would have thrown 4 more in to round it up - 1,249,996

We'd then haver 'approximately' ten minutes instead chap. Not acceptable.

We are seeing Hodinkee trying to maximise and milk these opportunities as much as possible. Maybe their VCs are starting to question when Hodinkee is actually going to make some money!

It's actually quite splendid. I'd be quite happy spending ten minutes watching that.

Looks like a load of balls to me.

For that money I don't want approximately 1.3 million balls. I want someone to have personally counted them and counted them again, then timed them falling through a precise aperture and made the necessary modifications to make the last ball fall through bang on the ten minute mark.

In all seriousness, listening to Newsom describe the piece was cringeworthy.

I was on the verge of ordering one until I found out that the balls are only copper-plated. I've had enough problems with plated, base metal cases in the past so I'm out.

It does nicely illustrate the socio-economic slice that Hodinkee are aiming at, cash rich, time poor and hopefully not too bright.

    How MUCH ???????

...inside are approximately 1,249,996 little spheres called "nanoballs." Each nanoball is just 0.6mm in diameter
Call me a (science/engineering geek) pedant, but ...
    ...0.6mm is not nano-scale.

It did prompt me to find a sandtimer on eBay for 18 whole pounds.
Not sure that was what hoodwinking were aiming for though.

Just be patient, there are rumours of 5 being made with platinum balls. And a Bremont version with balls made from small pieces of Chuck Norris.

The rumour is that the latter will be flying off the shelves!

    Would a NATO fit?
