If I could get the right deal, a black dialed Breitling A70174 UTC module on a Fighter bracelet for B-1.
You have 500 GBP in your Paypal account, what watch would you buy right now? To make it more interesting, you can name just one

Damasko DA37 (anyone got one for sale?) or a Tuna if I didn't already have one.
Speedbird GMT

Speedbird 3
EBernard extra fort chrono went for £570 on eBay recently... Would have loved a piece of that at that money!
Two up on the PRS-68
I'd have a seiko sumo I think
I already own a blue sumo, hence the PRS-68 dream, the sumo is a great watch on bracelet or isofrane.
Hamilton Jazzmaster Chrono [ used]
Hamilton is definitely a brand to look at.
Great range of models in excellent quality, plenty availability on the used market in your price range.
Steinhart Ocean 44 GMT
Speedbird GMT
A nice Omega Dynamic ;-)
Seiko SBBN017 (aka Tuna)
New? Or SC etc
Sinn 556
Steinhart Vintage .
A nearly new Longines Hydroconquest, 41mm, either black or blue.
Just at the minute I'd probably buy this and have lots of change. I have another Star of which the timekeeping is better than COSC and also, I don't have a red faced piece in the box at the minute. I think it's simple and unfussy.

Dare I say it, a Tag Heuer would be my choice.
I'm just a very naughty boy.
Good deals with- VINSTINK, kevkojak, Optimum, Omegary, seikoking, acg, SPEEDY, kfman, Card Shark, wajhart, Jot, danboy, zenomega, gaz64, minke, Mal52, Alas, norfolkngood, Sparky, rdwiow, mrteatime, gravedodger, joeytheghost, lordoftheflies, Silver Hawk, Filterlab, brooksy, marmisto, Fray Bentos, Bootsy, Harvey69, Mantisgb, bristolboozer, Jedadiah, newtohorology, Zephod, jimm1, Draygo, Raptor.
I may have forgot one or two, apppologies.
I bought a Max Bill this week, and both the hand-wind and quartz are in range.
^ this all day long.
I remain stunned how great Orient Star watches are. +/- 3 seconds per day, which mine easily achieves in use. Quality of fit and finish that far exceed the likes of Longines. My Orient Star is better quality than a Breitling I once had.
Orient Star would be £2k watches if they were Swiss.
A vintage GS or an early VFA quartz.
Good question, I've not long taken delivery of a tag model CAH1111 with a bit of change to spare, came from Vallywatch on SC.
Do love a tag and this one is all I could ask for eye catching, sleek, and most of all comfortable.
I also picked up and Indy 500 a year of so ago second hand (as good as new) model CAU1113 for bang on 500 notes. Didn't really have much love for it at first, after wearing it a few times I was smitten lol.
Both watches suit my taste so depends on what you like.

If I didn't already have one Seiko SBBN 015 Tuna, just awesome. I've had mine now 6 months and like it more each week.
If it HAD to be a NEW watch I hadn't got, probably a PRS35 as I rather like that (although I'd ask Eddie if there was any chance the arabic 36 dial would fit :) ).
Used, difficult - Loads of great watches in the £200-£300 range, but I've never bought anything in the £400-600 range (except a lovely Longine Ultronic and I'd suggest a good 'hummer' would be a great choice, but I don't think you need to spend this sort of money for most examples), so I don't really know what lies in that used range...
The reality is, I've far more pressing things to spend £500 on at the moment.

Good condition, second hand, Grand Quartz with twin quartz movement. Might have to wait a bit for one to come up, though.
2nd hand Damasko DA37 probably
Or a Sinn 556i
A vintage omega, preferably in a white dial with a lovely patina.
There were some on the SC, but am I on a watch diet so nothing till next year.
Sinn 556i on bracelet
Some interesting options in this thread, and it proves you don't have to spend thousands to get a decent watch.
5 Larch lap fence panels, 6 fence posts, 4 bags postcrete and a 10x5 garden shed.
Accutron II Snorkel - Very funky.
A used Nomos Club (36mm) although that may be outside of budget. Failing that, used Sinn 556i.
Disagree!
I`ve worked on a few, and in my opinion they belong with the cheaper Seikos. Parts availability in the UK seems to be zero, and I`ve come across two that have had problems with the mainspring barrel despite being only a few years old. Frankly, I wouldn`t go near one at £500; the case parts are fine, it's the movements that don`t measure up.
My £500 would go on the best steel vintage 60s Omega I could find.
Paul
Paul - I was going to ask the same question as Kozzy. I've owned a regular Orient, which I would equate to a Seiko 5 or Monster in workmanship. In contrast, I've also owned a Seiko Star and it was in a totally different league.
My Orient Star's automatic movement was extremely accurate and reliable. And the workmanship of its case was simply stunning (better than my aforementioned Breitling and Longines).
However, I take your point about spare parts.
A week in the sun
Ollech & Wajs Mirage (if you can find one...)!
Id buy a second hand Oris. I think they are great value on the used market.
