Have you tried making a big ball of sticky tape, tennis ball size, press down firmly and turn.
Tried to open it with a squashball, a regular watch opener and even a wrench.
There is no opener on ebay (only whole sets).
Anyone a splendid idea? It needs a new battery...

What about trying a Breitling AD?..... or any competent jewelry store?
Just like this one
I'm thinking you could do waaay more than £80 damage by trying to open the watch without the correct tool!
I think it is time to smile sweetly and open the piggy bank
I really don't think that is the case, they may "vigorously suggest" you do a service ...but at the end of the day? you don't have too.
Aside from that , I think if I can't afford the cost service? I can't afford the watch, period.
Like buying a Ferrari and worrying about the cost of a regular service tune up ....

The last watch that required a battery change went to a local jeweller and after they also failed to remove the case back sent it off to their repairer. Cost me £13
I have found with case backs that are on very tight that putting them in the fridge for an hour or two has made it easier to get the back off. Read the tip elsewhere and tried it. Amazed that it worked but I have used it a few times now.
The only sensible way to remove this is with a case opener made specifically for the job. I have a set that I bought from ebay which cost around £40; they're not brilliant but they work.
Trying to use a sticky ball is like pissing in the wind; most casebacks on dive watches are fitted far too tightly for a sticky ball (or similar) to work.
Best bet is to find someone who can open the case and pay for the battery swap (not me, I`m won`t touch Breitlings thesedays)......that's all part of the fun with Breitling ownership. Trying to open it with any other metal tool is likely to cause damage.

Exactly is a battery, Breitling or an independent is what I have already pointed out is best ...does require a "sermon" although I prefer the term common sense , trying opening the case back of a Breitling with a wrench seem a bit drastic and costly which appears to be, what the OP is trying to avoid in the first place .
Guess I have to buy myself a decent Breitling opener then.
Local AD's won't open it. They only send it in for a service and battery change. Typical Breitling policy.
Thanks for all the reactions!
