Lovely Simon I do love sunken sub dials very classy.
Paul.
I've already mentioned that I have a client whose daily beater is an Aquanaut GMT. Today he was wearing another piece from his collection - a Rolex 6238, aka pre-Daytona, aka the Lazenby Rolex, aka the OHMSS Rolex. Very elegant and pretty much the same size as the PRS 53 I was wearing, so around 37/38mm. He wears it on the original stretchy, hair-puller bracelet.
Here's a crappy phone pic'
And here's James Bond sporting his

That's very nice, classy and subtle. I've a friend who has a modern day Daytona and this I think I prefer
Congratulations to your client.
Were these watches manual wind as well?
Am I the only person on the planet who did not know this was a 'Bond' watch ??
Great looking rolex. A reel keeper.
I have lusted after a 6238 since seeing it in Bond once I'd started to "get" watches.
Sadly I'm £20k light to get one. One day...
Very classy piece!
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Nice watch, pity about the actor - I use the word advisedly.
PS
I read somewhere that Diana Rigg would eat garlic before filming the close-ups.
So many times nicer than the Daytona...
Wonderful watch. If only Rolex produced a vintage line in 40-42mm with the old style cases, lugs, dials etc, chance would be a fine thing.
Great watch!! Really like the simple elegant all - steel look..
Cool even if the watch doesn't do much for me!
stunning watch. imo Lazenby wasn´t that bad.
Bloody marvellous what a beauty.
I was offered on in a tin as a box of dismantled on missing one mini hand the one puller and bracelet.
I refused the offer as 6 thousand sounded too expensive.
Now looking at the 'crappy iPhone photo' I regret it so much. What a beauty.
Diana Rigg to this day denies this and attributes it to Lazenbys paranoia.
She admits to having eaten pate before a scene, but is adamant that it was just thoughtlessness on her part - not in any way intentional.
Its very clear that she didn't take to Lazenby, finding him arrogant and not liking the way he took on the mantle of "film star" far too prematurely, but she definitely denies the garlic story.
The press at the time - as the press does - made quite a thing about it though and added it to their list of ways to punish Lazenby for not being Sean Connery.
There are other stories of her shouting something along the lines of "Im having garlic for dinner darling - hope you are" at Lazenby, though Im not sure if this led to the story or was a reaction to it.
I have always thought that Daytona's look a bit to brash and blingy.
But I do like this one - very nice in an old skool way.
Lovely looking watch - one of my favourites.
Definitely a sleeper Bond watch. Very subtle, but am I the only one who thinks the subdials are just a smidgen too spaced out for the dial?
Ps if Connery had made OHMSS it would probably have been the best of the franchise. But then I guess the grass is always greener...
I did a search and a few 'for sale' items turned up. Serious asking prices! Some are even more expensive than a MilSub!
Menno
Not sure how complimenting a rolex -or preferring one model over another - is trolling rolex.
And, yes, we're all aware what the key is - rarity and brand name. And, to some (crazy people presumably) the mona lisa IS a great painting.
You need to take a leaf out of my book and stick to the crunchy nut cornflakes - instead of drinking lemon juice of a morning...
Edit - Good morning anyway - wrong side of the bed grumpy?

What is it with most gen owners with chronographs leaving them running all the time? I have seen in the flesh, and online most owners leave them running, and some owners actually don't realise how their actual 10k watch works/functions lol
I feel a bit sorry for old George. OHMSS consistently ranks in the top 5 films amongst the Bond fan community and Sean was always going to be a tough act to follow. Lazenby apparently didn't know that most of his lines had been over-dubbed by George Baker (the actor playing Hilary Bray) until the film came out. He might have quickly gathered a reputation for being a bit high-maintenance but he was a handsome fella and had the masculine screen presence that Bond requires. Diana Rigg is spectacularly pretty in the film but it was arguably poor casting given that she was already a household name from The Avengers. I guess Cubby wanted big names for the roles of Tracy and Blofeld given that the leading man was an unknown quantity...
