    Rolex GMT Black/Blue

I like the lovely new bezel'd GMT.
    A thing of beauty.

I am happy that I am not particularly wowed by it. If the pepsi and coke versions were released, I would be scheming ways to get the money together for one!

I like it as much as the black bezel (ie not as much as the 16750 et al).

First glimpse was "yeahhhh..I like that"..but could you justify having the normal black bezel and this one too? Even I couldn't...

Wy does the GMT have a bi-colour bezel anyway? Is it functional or purely aesthetic? Where doesmthe two-tone design originate from?

The list price will be £5,950. Looks like good value to buy a pre-owned GMTc then purchase the new bezel.

I like it a lot!!! I do also find it odd though that the GMT MASTER II writing is not in Blue like the bezel and 24 hour hand!!

it differentiates between night and day.

When working out a second time zone via the bezel you can see at a quick glance if it is day or night at that time zone, ie on the two tone bezel dial 06:00-18:00 is red and 18:00-06:00 is blue or black ( Pepsi or coke bezel)

But the bezel has 24 hour numbering on it, so there should be no confusion?

Then you'll have green (the 24h hand) blue and black together which I think would be a bit messy.

Everyone was expecting black and red, or blue and red, and they've done black and blue. Which has certainly turned the air blue :).

Maybe the red is still not production-ready?
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

Good point. Scrap that idea then! Considering the old GMTc has a green dial as well!

Does nothing for me but then I have 16750 (with both black and pepsi inserts) and a 16753 Root beer Nipple. More than enough choice.

Old but still the best IMHO.

Pretty sure it was because it was commissioned/designed for Pan-Am pilots in the 50s, blue and red being the Pan-Am colours. Guess the black and red was a later variation on that.

Nice idea but you'd still need to obtain the blue gmt hand and you'd still have the green GMT text on the dial to convert to white. Cheaper option by far though.

Good morning everybody, I absolutely love the new blue bezel GMT Master 2. Is this a regular production watch and do they have any other colours planned? I am glad they are evolving what is already a quality brand.

To each his own. IMHO it's pretty cheap looking.

Tried one on today at M&W, nice piece though would have preferred an updated Pepsi. The particular piece had been sold (£4895.00), taking orders but won't receive any more in until November.

Don't believe a word that an AD tells you, you will probably see one in a window in a few weeks. Can't remember the last steel sports Rolex released which hasn't been freely available soon after launch. The 16610LV took a while but the new one is everywhere.

    I can do that,

    Look outside, dark = night,

    Look outside, light =day.

    £6k saved :)

The GMT function is for travellers and pilots etc etc
If you are a pilot sitting in Bangkok airport you can't look outside
and see what colour the sky is in London.

First off.. I love the Black/Blue theme, but I'm not a Rolex owner (yet!), slowly becoming a fan of the brand; this could definitely do it for me..

So onto my question, please forgive me if it's silly, but.. If the GMT hand is meant for home time (which is in a 24hr format), and the "normal" hour hand is for Local time (wherever you're visiting).. so why the black and blue bezel? Third time zone?

After all, the GMT hand shows a 24hour reading so you don't need it to indicate AM/PM..

To me, Blue and Black is the most logical combination for Daytime (blue sky) and Night time (Black sky) for a GMT watch

I got to look at one of these yesterday, and until I saw it I must admit I was very much "meh"... now I have seen it, I will make a very bold statement - it is far nicer than the "standard" (green) GMT IIc.

We should just trust Rolex's judgement in future!

Can't stop looking at these...just need to see one in real life. Or perhaps I don't, for fear of laying waste to a big chunk of savings...
