Dodgy Seiko "Gen 2" on ebay?

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/seiko-mil...gAAOSwEaBZ~bjI

Authentic watch, but it looks to my very suspicious eye like the seller has done that military engraving with a dremmel.

Thoughts? I've fancied another Gen 2 for a while but this one ain't it!

Does not look right to me.
I have never seen them engraved like that, they are normally stamped

There's definitely a civvy version of at least one of the Seikos - my money is on this being a DIY job on one of those.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Yes, I reckon that is a civvy engraved to make it look like a more valuable issued version. All his efforts have achieved is making it of no interest to anyone now, - reducing it’s value.

Agreed, the civil version of the Gen2 is identical to the issued version including fixed bars and the circle L. If someone wanted to they could fake an issued version quite easily. That said the issued versions are stamped (quite badly normally) instead of engraved unlike most issued watches. So this is a give a way, as in this case.

100% not right, I worked on these while I was at seiko. I have also had and sold loads of them.
The civilian version of these cost £225 when they were new, I had one as a loan watch (seiko loan a watch to their staff or they did while I was there)
The funny thing is there were 100's of the MOD versions kicking around the workshop and most were destroyed.
