    Socks

It's been a while since I last bought my last job lot of socks, and it shows. They're in a bit of a state and I'm in the process of binning most of them, and I need to start again.

I used to just buy another job lot from M&S, but I find the quality is not up to scratch these days.

Given I need to buy around 15-20 pairs, any good recommendations, without having to pay a tenner a pair?

Must be all cotton or a very high percentage.

Green treat from TK MAXX... My go to socks at £4.99 for 3

I have far more expensive socks, but, nothing trumps these

??? Have I fallen into a trap discussing socks ???

Calvin Klein, but buy them from their own website. The packs from House of Fraser etc are not the same.

    Fabulous quality.

You need some news shoes to go with whatever bad boys you wear with pride.

Next & Fat Face are my appointed sock suppliers these days, always in the sales (75% of my clothes are from sales these days).

100%wool commando socks from leek market, moorland hosiery. Had them 3 or 4 years no sign off wear on them yet. I don't get on with cotton as it holds sweat next to my skin. Most long distance walkers wear merino blend socks.

Give it time someone will try and punt some out on SC, probably tactical!

Seriously, I have started treating socks as a consumable, buy the best ones I can at TKMax (wool if they have them) at the first sign of looking worn or thin, bin them.

People need to take the falling in quality of Marks and Sparks socks more seriously. I've been buying the same, er - model? reference number?* M & S sock since 1989 and if the quality falls any further heaven knows what I'll do

*lambswool rich, black, regular length, size 11-13

    Another vote for TK Maxx.

Although it's like shopping in a rummage sale or a real-life version of Sales Corner sometimes, if you strike lucky you'll find some Pantherellas.

And for the wet shavers among us, the occasional bottle of Pecksniffs After Shave Balm.

I'd also vote for Uniqlo, especially their "premium" socks.

Lambs wool socks from M&S are a good buy, I hate pairing socks up so when some start to look worn I dump them all in the recycling and renew them all making sure they are identical.

Bamboo socks for me for everyday As an earlier post noted Green Treat from TKMaxx are a good option. For sports use 1000 mile socks are good, if a bit on the pricey side.

I buy packs of 6 Pringle socks from Costco for £20, can't go wrong with them at that price.

These for me too, very comfy, although I did pick up a 3 pack of Duchamp ones at T K Maxx the other day which I have on one side for my Holiday this week.

Another positive vote here for Bamboo socks - TKMaxx Green Treat or F&F from Tesco are great and cheap. Very soft feel and stay fresh all day. They don't keep falling down, but don't leave deep grooves in your leg from over-strong elastic either.

If you insist on wool, Pringle seem to be the best I've used.

(I don't wear cotton socks, I'm allergic to Merino, and Cashmere and Silk are simply ridiculously priced)
