    Holiday watch

It's that time of year I'm planning my holiday it's a special holiday as when in Spain I am getting married too! I have a couple of watches I'm taking including my SMP but looking for a G Shock to cover the rougher duties on holiday. Anyone recommend a good model for this? I've looked in SC and other posts but there are so many!! Would love people's opinions!

    Cheers
    Mark.

What rougher duties exactly ? A SMP is a dive watch, it can deal with most situations.

I've actually worn my Submariner scuba diving, Yes I can hear the gasp of air from some of you, strangely it didn't implode at 30 meters and worked perfectly as the tool it was intended for.

Granted an SMP will work fine in most conditions but it can also get dinged / lost / stolen as well, and the consequences are a bit worse than losing a G-Shock in most cases.

Any G-Shock will do quite honestly, on the terms you describe. It's just a question of finding one you like the look of. I personally prefer solar / radio control models.

What rough duties are you expecting mariage to entail ?

I wouldn't bother with the g shock. That's for all the diy and hobbies after you're married.

DW5600E or M5610 if you must.

edit - seen you've already got the family. I really like the retro look of the 5610, does all I require and have a set of bull bars on mine. Use it to set my mechanical watches. Bought cheaply from Argos Ebay after a heads up.

Sorry guys. Should of said more. The SMP will be with me for swimming and any diving. But having 4 young kids the beach and sport duties is what I'm wanting a G Shock for as I'm trying to avoid dings and scratches

This shows what I've got to learn. I saw the word 'atomic' and thought this must mean there's something radioactive in your watch. Would make it rather heavy with all the lead required!

I dived in my LV once or twice down in Portland, but spent alot of the dive worrying about it so didnt bother doing that anymore.

OP, when are you going? 5610 and 6900both fit the bill and if you are patient occasionally come up at silly prices on Amazon. Got my 6900 for £38 and its solar and radio controlled.

The GD-350-8JF is a good all-round G-Shock well suited for travel, and not too expensive. Not solar or radio controlled but I don't miss those features.

I generally stick to a G Shock when overseas.

This paid off one time at Heathrow when a lift malfunctioned, closing the door on my wrist. Luckily the G Shock took the brunt of it.

I've never been so thankful to wear a £50 plastic watch
