School photos - let's see 'em!

Just stumbled across this, which must have been from around 1976/7... I'm standing in the middle row, far right (with both the curly perm and the girl!!!). Still good mates with a couple of the guys in the photo, who I've known since I was five - in fact there's about a dozen of us from school who meet up two or three times a year.

Come on then, let's see yours...

1969 on Bruton Station and on the train travelling back to Frome.

I would have been 16 at the time and wearing my dad's old 1950s herringbone coat.

I went to Sexeys School on Lusty Hill.

God knows why my hair grew out into a mushroom shape, if I pulled it straight, it was down to my chin!

This one off my University of Minnesota ID card is probably from 1969, following my stint in the Marine Corps. (Yeah, I know it looks more like a mug shot!)

You might be able to lay claim to inventing the “meet me at McDonalds” haircut (google it if you haven’t heard the term).

Not school but Air Cadets. In front of a Sedbergh T21 at RAF Cosford circa 74/75. Third from right, standing, hand nonchalantly in pocket.

This is 1990 I think. I don't have the full class ones here but in secondary school they replaced class photos with year photos. Quite hard to spot me in the crowd of 200 from those days.

School photos - let's see 'em!

Part of school photo from May 1957, I’m on the bottom row sat down, the guy circled at the back is a certain Mr. J Lennon

I’ve just realised that not one of of my old schools have survived into the 21st century! Probably says something...

This is Mrs Rankin’s class, Ambleside First School in 1969. The handsome 6yr old 2nd row from the back, 3rd in from the right is yours truly.

I can still name 24 of those kids but ask me what I did yesterday and I’m clueless.

    OK, that's quite cool.

Here's me, aged about 14-15. I was a cocky little shit, and the teacher that I am now would probably have taken an instant dislike to the boy I was then. Thank goodness we grow up.

    As a fellow teacher... yes!

As a youngster I hated rules, regulations and people telling me what to do. Authority problem... dropped out of school 3x. Nowadays, I'm a school's vice principal and I'm the school's 'judge jury and executioner'...

School pic and boxing club both from 1966.
Third right from the end back row and first white t shirt from the left in middle row at our boxing club which was above a pig sty.

I see some b/w photos. Good tool for colourising them, https://colourise.sg/. I applied it to FIL's wedding photo - it must be good as he started crying!

I think it must be the age of the photo, I've tried an old photo of my grandad with almost no change
It's the only one my mum has of him and it would be nice to get it coloured but the original isn't the best quality to start with

I think you're right on the age point, look at this.I tried another pic of my dad which will be 76 years old and it just put a bit of colour in his cheeks

For those having a problem with colourising, I used Skanlite app on Kubuntu, selecting True Gray and 1200DPI. Look for True Gray (or even True Grey) in your scanning app.
