Harrison Ford to return as Indiana Jones

    I'm not sure about this.

Loved the first three of course, but Crystal Skull was pretty cack.

Ford is now 78, and will be 80 when this film is scheduled for release:

Dear god. I wish I could be as even-handed.

I think it’s an absolutely terrible idea, and the people responsible for greenlighting it should be ashamed.

    Depends

Depends on how they pitch it - when he returned to Star Wars he was moving as an "older man" - if the character and story in Indy 5 suits an "older man" is could be watchable / enjoyable (Sean Connery was great in Indy 3 as an age appropriate character with a great story and script) but if they try and portray him as the all conquering physical hero (with a storyline as poor as Indy 4) it will be rubbish and an unfitting way to end a generally amazing saga.......#nervous

I have seen a bit of the screenplay.

Apparently he plays one of the ancient artefacts that his young fit successor has to discover to thwart the Nazis. Or Brexiteers. Or Proud Boys. Or (insert whatever object of scorn will be prevalent whilst filming).

I was being auditioned for the part of his replacement when I stole a glance at the script.

Apparently the film will be based on the aged adventurer’s quest to escape his nursing home and go for a pint whilst avoiding being crushed by a substantial scotch egg.

I guess it tells you about the current state of the film industry when you have to either flog the 1980s cash cow again, reboot the Batman for the 50th time or come up with a new marvel combination of characters with even more CGI than the last.

I'm sure he'll be fine. If he can do as good a job as Clint Eastwood did in The Mule then it'll be good enough for me. I guess Ford will have less of a say in it so it's going to be down to the director.

    The Return of the Geriatric

Good luck to him - when he's finished filming he could run for office

Except... Hollywood has always been like that replace Batman with Zorro and it's remade multiple times in the 30s and 40s.

The Maltese Falcon which people rave about as an example of how Cinema used to be made? It's a remake!
