Tudor Submariner 9411/0 Curiosity Updated with display case pics.

Browsing eBay on Sunday and saw this listed and figured it was a cool object to have on the watch shelf so put a bid in and ended up winning it for considerably less than I had expected.

Love the cross section so you can really see the way the case back, gasket, crystal, crystal retaining ring, bezel ring and insert. Loving that plexi dome too.

Case probably dates to mid 70's. Going to make an acrylic display box for it and mount it on a nice piece of wood.

That is excellent. How was it listed, as an exhibition piece etc or a promotional item that would have been used to help sell the watches back in the day.

Those bevel edges are nice and sharp

We’ve seen worse listed as running original watches ;)

    Cool thing.

Brilliant, love it and right up my street.

Oddities like this are really interesting.

I'm sure you could send it into Rolex for a service with the claim you'd dropped it.

A bit of polywatch will get rid of those marks

    That is seriously cool.

If you get bored please let me know as it would be a great compliment to my 9411

At first I thought, OMG what has someone done to that! Then I sussed it out a bit more and realised what it actually was. My eyesight really is very poor!

It’s a very cool thing indeed, which I do hope you share some photos of, once you’ve finished your little project.

Even the crown has been sectioned by the look of it.
    Nice find BTW.

Fascinating, although of course the 9411/0 is a date sub, so it would have originally had a top hat crystal with a cyclops, not a fully domed crystal.....
And those lug chamfers are massive

That's very cool, and reminds me of the open heart Curta demonstration models.

    Thread update.

Managed to get a period Tudor marble watch stand, popped it on a Nato strap and bought an acrylic display case off eBay. Very pleased with the overall look.

Picked up a nice Rolex writing pad in a nice case too. My display shelves are going to need an extension soon!!
