Never satisfied me! (on the phone swipe across the image to see the full equation. Ta)

    + some £1000's =

What about this equation? (not sure if this will display properly on your little phone screens). Throwing this into the TZ universe for opinions. Thats the 37 version of the AP RO (15450ST.OO.1256ST.01)

    I would without a doubt.

It’s a no for me for this in fact... I prefer your VC over the RO! But can’t go wrong with either option of course ...

For you to consider part exing your two watches the AP must be calling to you. Its a different proposition and certainly more delicate than the sub and the Zenith. Would you wear it more than the other two,mif so and you can afford the £££££ then I would go for it.

I’d stick with what you have - equal design heritage and wearability with the sub, and the added choice of a horologically interesting chronograph

I think you've probably made up your mind - enjoy it (you only love once!).

P.S. I was mulling over the AP RO, but I've now gone off the idea, due to low WR, exposed crown and servicing costs - and I suppose as the 450 or 300 not available at RRP (so I risk taking a hit on resale). That said, it's still a very nice watch.

Difficult one for me. I voted no, and would probably pee off both AP and Rolex owners if I expanded on that.

Go with your gut. They're all lovely watches.

Not sure I'd want your VC and the AP in the same collection. For me they scratch the same itch.

    I wouldn't be selling a Sub41 ND.

  15. #15
All are great watches but not sure the RO is worth more than the sum of the sub and Zenith, in my eyes.

You can’t lose here though: all of them are fantastic, whatever you decide

  16. #16
    I probably would.

  17. #17
I like the RO but wouldn't swap both of those for it.

Personally I'd sell the Zenith and have the Sub plus cash!

  19. #19
The equation does not balance at all for me. Wouldn't want to let that Zenith go

  20. #20
    They are all ok watches.

If I vote yes and you get the AP, does that mean you are more likely to sell the VC?😀

I may be biased having just gone through a similar dilemma, but I’d say go for it. Pricey but just feels and looks great. The shimmer from the integrated bracelet is mesmerising and the dial has a real depth to it and goes from white to silver depending on the light.

Your hulk ticks the sub box so selling the sub 41 no date is not a big loss in my books. Good luck in your choice!

The AP does nothing for me, I know they’re one of the Holy Trinity brands but never got on with the aesthetic, I’d be sticking, great watches there! Zenith esp.

    Really tough (but nice) choice.
I would want a Sub in my collection. I love the AP. Are you absolutely sure the 37 is the right size? If so, I would somehow make it work to get it, but would still want the sub...

    I’d do it - I think.

  26. #26
I love the RO but I would not Part Wx those two for a white dialled RO.

It can’t replace the functions of the others in terms of robustness, water resistant and unique chronograph.

If you need a sporty dress watch and have watches you prefer for the above then OK but otherwise it is a no for me!

I’ve got a 39mm RO chrono and slim wrists and to be honest I’d echo what others have questioned about the size and if it will be too small? The 39mm is a good size (I had the 41mm 15400 and that felt too big, I’ve also got a ROO diver which is likely to go as it’s too big no matter how much I like it and how much I tell myself it’s not too big...). AP size is really tricky.

Nope. Find a way to keep the sub and get the AP. It's the WIS way.

For me the ND sub is such a quintessential watch I don’t think anything comes close to its versatility.

    No

IMHO the RO is overhyped - bracelet is nice but the Minase bracelet on the Divido absolutely hammers it on quality.

    Keep what you have IMHO

Not sure where the versatility lies
It's a sports dive watch which in no way doubles as a dress watch.

Go for it, life is about making mistakes and learning from them..

I mean, what the hell is AUTOMATIC emblazoned on the dial for? Its sort of thing that is used to sell budget brands..

My impression from Martyn’s posts since I joined TZ is that there could be a landslide no vote on here and that AP is getting bought. The real question is what’s making way.

Yes I’ve read enough of your great in-depth reviews of a watch followed by the SC sequel a few weeks later to agree with your opening statement!

I’m on the enabling side, btw. The lack of WR I find odd, but otherwise it’s a great watch that is probably only going one way value wise so might as well scratch that itch sooner. While I get it theoretically, in reality I don’t think it’s an issue trading a Chrono and a diver for a RO - you’ve only got one wrist and you can wear them all to the opera/gardening.

Only word of caution is just have your tried it on? I tried a similar dimension RO (can’t remember the ref) and despite what on any other watch would be a super slim profile it felt a bit chunky due to the narrow case size. But then thickness is my hang up, so prob just me being difficult.

I would definitely trade but would go for the 39mm. Its the sweet spot in my opinion. You'll get a good price for sub 41 so will soften the blow a bit.

Undoubtedly I am a heathen but the RO just doesn’t do it for me. The nut shaped crown in particular, and in the offshore versions it and any pushers look plastic and cheap. Admittedly I can’t recall seeing one in the flesh so could have it all wrong!

Well. For now (maybe not tomorrow) I have decided not to sell (or buy).

I may look at the Omega 300m white face instead. Ideally would like a no-date 42mm version if Omega ever produce one.

    Good call imo Martyn.

It’s obviously a completely personal thing but that AP does nothing for me.
