Accurate cheap and nasty Vostok !!!

Sad as I may be I enjoy regulating many of my watches and recording their accuracy to try and get the best out of them.

I have no special tools or machine, I simply try to nudge the leavers and record the results and then adjust again.

This is in no way a real test of accuracy, it is simply me looking at the watch

and then looking at an atomic updated clock and noting the difference I see.

After a couple of days of making adjustments I made an adjustment at 23:35 on 13/02/20 and noted it was minus 1 second and recorded it.

The next day I started to record every hour or two.

I am now at 34 hours passed and still I make it minus 1 second, although I think it is just about to creep into minus 2.

£28 Hand Winding watch imported from Russia. Has 2414A movement - 17 jewels - 19800 beat rate

    Here were the recordings.

Mine keeps fairly appalling time but I still like it. 25 seconds gained per day.

My one was + 14 a day before I started to fiddle.

I actually opened the case back with the same little flat head screw driver I use to nudge the regulator lol.

So simple, I would imagine many Russians regulate these themselves at home.

That was actually pretty good to start with.

The thing with regulating inexpensive movements is that they may be fine when laid flat but they are not adjusted in all positions which is the case with chronometer or more expensive movements.

There is a limit on what you can do with Vostoks in my experience.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
