My Wilberforce used to be 8.12 inches (by digital calipers), but recently measured and it's 7.83 inches. I believe lack of use has led to muscle atophy :(

He is well able to afford his own, its just that he is so old that he asked me to run the errand for him.

Dropped a watch from a windowsill, a little over a metre high, this morning.

Weleda Millet-extract shampoo smells like Jägermeister - I'm not curious enough to see whether it tastes like it, though.

On the technological front, today has been a good day. I had several things on my "to do" list, and got them all done. Upgraded the RAM in my Macbook (one of the early aluminium versions), which only came with 2gb of RAM. It now has 4gb! And, having successfully managed that, I downloaded and installed Mavericks. If you're considering this, be aware that the whole download and install procedure takes almost two hours. Well, it did for me, anyway. And that's without any problems.

And I can now watch the footage from my car camera on the Mac. And the car camera now has a 32gb SD card.

And that was all of the items on my list achieved. Which doesn't happen too often.

I'm on a roll. I just need to get the hang of the new trackpad gestures on the Mac!

Made my own ghee yesterday. Turned out really nicely - beginners' luck - considering it can get overdone if left too long or rancid if too early.

It has the most lovely caramel, honey-like, buttery taste and the smell is divine. It's like nectar from the Gods.
Use good quality (grass-fed) unsalted butter though. E.g. Kerrygold.

Better (and more healthy) for cooking in than most household oils!

I've just ordered a new garage roof from Safestyle, now Virgo - and have suddenly had the collywobbles about it, though they did a decent enough job of my windows eight years ago.

collywobbles - love that word - a true Lancashire word!

Anyway, I am tired and a bit tipsy* and I dont want to go to bed yet, but alas work means an early start...

*I consider myself tee-total, but I had an urge to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels and I have had about half a measure mixed with coke and it's gone right to my head.

I presume that "You buy one, you get one free" does not apply to their garage roofs?

Typical, isn't it? You take your eye off them for 10 seconds, and they go and change stuff.

The Paris - Dakar rally, which runs (in my mind) from Paris in France to Dakar in Senegal, was this year run between Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina and Valparaíso, Chile. The last time the rally ended in Dakar was 2007, and it has been run in South America since 2008. It's just called the Dakar these days.
