Recommend me a lightweight, shower proof jacket

Having just been caught in the mother of all downpours, I’ve discovered that my old casual jacket isn’t waterproof in the slightest. Any recommendations for a manufacturer of nice, lightweight, smart-casual jackets? Nothing warm to wear as when it’s cold I wear my favourite leather jacket, or tweed. Obviously.

    Thanks!

I've recently bought a Barbour lightweight 'Duke'. Not too hot just a T underneath. Mine's a sand colour and wears well with jeans or most casual clothing. Very light in weight.

They have sale on at the moment and there are some lightweight rain jackets on offer.

Rohan District....almost identical to what I already have, but hopefully more waterproof. And currently half price at £40! Thanks again TZ.

I got one of these too (after posting here). Got it for £150 in the sales.

Lots of pockets incl. an inside-pocket and lightweight too. Looks like it could withstand rain too.

Bought it for dog-walking four weeks ago and the sun has been pretty much every day since!!!

Get yourself a goretex golf jacket. I can personally recommend Galvin Green (which comes with a lifetime guarantee).

Marmot Precip, packs up incredibly small, keeps you perfectly dry when the time comes. Ideal for the unpredictable British summer, when for most of the time you don't want a jacket at all.

The only problem is cognitive dissonance, the price its far too low for the peerless quality on offer.

PS FWIW Arctic Navy is a fine neutral colour.
