I think you’ll find it lives on the surfaces of brand new jeans that sit in shops being touched by hundreds of customers too. There’s an article somewhere that a California chemistry student did that found no more germs on 2 year old unwashed pair he owner than that of the high street new.

Understanding the cult or pleasure of breaking raw denim is hard but if you get it you get it.

My pleasure. Still look like jeans to me, although perhaps just smellier ones

I can fully understand the desire of high quality denim, makes sense to me.
I just don’t like the idea of not washing them.

Agree with you. I like quality selvedge denim and have few but don’t want to look like Joey Ramone.

I actually really enjoyed doing it and really like the looks than can be achieved, so I'm looking forward to having some more wear patches/holes to repair. I like the idea that the jeans become more unique and wear their wear with pride!

I'm slightly wary of posting this, as there have been some rather aggressive replies from people defending their passion for jeans, but why do they cut jeans with that "been in the saddle all day", "wouldn't stop a pig in a passage" style?

If you only wash them twice in 18 months they probably stand that way on their own! 😂😂😂

My Hiut WorkR have just had their first wash, had them for a few years, but for various reasons they have never had that much wear so over the last few weeks I've pretty much worn them anytime I am able to. Was planning to wear them everyday for a few weeks before washing, but my three year old decided that they looked like a good place to wipe her chocolately fingers, so into the bath tub they went!

Will post some before and after pics soon to see what kind of first fades we get.

These haven’t fit me for a while now (32W 34L) so if anyone wants them for £20 give me a shout. They’re clean obviously 🙄

I just have bog standard Levi's 501's as the are the only ones that seem to fit me reasonably well. Funnily enough I had to return a pair today - the rivet on the fly came apart. Only had these ones a few months and worn them perhaps half a dozen times. When they fade, I use them for work. My main problem with jeans is I tend to wear them out around the knacker area - it’s not like I go commando either!

Just a heads up really for anyone in or around Manchester with a beat up pair of Nudie jeans, the Nudie repair team will be at a little independent shop called Steranko, Burton Road, West Didsbury, tomorrow and Saturday. Repairs are free so a great chance to put a bit of life into your old favourites!
I’ve no link with either the shop or Nudie.

    Great to hear that thanks!
Mine were first in the shop for repair, unfortunately they piled all the ones that came in after on top of them so are now last. Such is life.

Just had a quick look, did you get IH-555S-142? How you’re finding them, are they true to size?

Yup that’s them, they are fairly true to size but expecting the waist to stretch a little. They have been shortened and chain stitched. A very modern slim fit for selvedge denim, and much nicer in the seat for me than Nudie grim Tim.

If you looking to buy and can’t get to a stockist try the uk webstore as they will advise on best model and sizing for you.

Cheers! I've been planning to pop into Hyde & Rivet store and try a few pair on for some time now, it just I can’t make my mind what I really want. Every time I more or less settle on something there is a new, more special stuff coming out

25oz denim is going to be like wearing pipe lagging. And I don't mind a turn up but £500 to look like Compo from Last of the Summer Wine? Feck that!

I have a pair of Nudie Steady Eddie that I bought around three years ago (maybe longer) and I've kept them for 'good'. I only wear them when I'm going out-out so they've hardly been worn :(

They've only been washed once and that was because they got a dirty mark I couldn't get out any other way. I'll dig them out tonight and post a pic. If they still fit I'll start wearing them as my daily pair and see how they fade.

EDIT: Result, they fit! My not so new daily wearers....

    Jeans Thread

I would have thought cone mills were thriving under the uptake demand for their denim, being the last US producer.

Tellason make a great pair of jeans, surprised they are not more popular over here. I picked mine up in Iron and resin in Ventura. Great store and worth a stop if you are ever up that way.

Re-reading some of the thread and that made me chuckle.

As for some of the other jeans, whats with the rear pockets looking like they slid down your leg? Back to Wrangler Texas I suppose then!
