Tired of seeing the same old watches all the time???

I propose a little game.

The rules are simple,
1: You post pictures of a watch you have in your collection that you think is rare, but if another forum member can post a picture from their current or past collection that is near enough the same watch then you must donate £10 to the fundraiser.
2: The watch does not have to be exactly the same just close enough to be considered another one (things like different text font on the dial won't apply as that is too specific)
3: Modifications don't count, looking for original watches (so no bamford, project X, etc)

Lets see what we can raise for the fundraiser
To provide an incentive, I have a wooden Patek Philippe eyeglass/loupe that I will giveaway to a randomly member in two weeks time

Had a really weird movement. From memory, the hour sub dial ran all the time and then you had to use the pusher at 8 to reset it when the chrono was running.

I was hoping that people will post watches that few of us would have seen before. Not got any watches you would like to share RAJEN?
If people want to post rare Rolex, AP, Patek or more obscure brands like Urban Jurgensen or Moritz Grossmann then that would be excellent as well.

Whilst most Comex are ten a penny, (ahem...). This 2004 one was made in slightly lower numbers. Derided by collectors as the one they gave to the photocopier repair man, it still remains a very low volume watch.
There are definitely three that exist but I've been told there were five made. Either way, I'm willing to bet you won't find another one on the wrist of someone on here.

A good idea for a game. I have two watches I'll play with. I'll gladly pay 20 quid for each, if there's another one on TZ.

First is my Tokyoflash Art 8 Elite. The first watch I acquired as an adult. I wasn't really interested in watches at the time, but this was peculiar enough to interest me anyway. It wasn't really comfortable on the wrist and it was too hard to read. Away to the drawer it went, but i guess this watch really started it all.



The second one is a S.U.F Komentaja. It's a "budget" brand of Stepan Sarpaneva, the Finnish independent watchmaker best known from his Sarpaneva brand watches.

I'll start with these, probably not rare rare, but definately uncommon.
from old to new....

1989 Casio G-Shock AW-500-1E
A reasonably mass produced watch, but what makes it interesting is that it was the first digi-and G-shock that Casio made back in 1989.
Beneath the rubber shroud, is a substantial steel case with a screw down case back, over engineering at its best.
On a personal note, the first watch I really remember owning was the black/gold variant (AW-500G-1E) which I also own, but this is the more significant model (both white, and gold versions have seen various reissues through the years)




2003 40mm Panerai Luminor chronograph PAM122
According to internet lore, not long after this watch was unveiled at SIHH in 2002, Zenith stopped supply of the El Primero movement to Panerai so the 122 (and 121, grey alligator strap version) were discontinued before they really made it to market and never featured in the 2003 catalogue.

I know a few folk here have owned the 72/74 black dial versions, but 121/122?

Here's my one. It's called a "Speedmaster" on account of it being used for timing the Russian rocket that took Colonel Laika to the sun. They flew at night so as not to get burned. Which is why this model is named "Professional". It is made by a Greek company named "Omega":

Yes, indeed - a fairly even split in there between vintage mechanical calculators (including five Curtas), and miniature and subminiature cameras. Some of the calculators feature here, here and here. Sometime I should start a thread about the cameras, I know that there are others here with an interest.

Thanks, that's quite correct. The watch head is attached to a housing on the strap using a camera lens type of mount, allowing it to be removed and converted to a marine chronometer style desk clock.
