Thread: A good plate ...

  1. #201
    I saw

TH15 MBZ, on an E class
    TH15 JCB on a Disco.

Both were seen within 2 minutes of each other around Heathrow on M25

Spotted in Peterborough - Black McLaren 650S with the plate OH11 YES

I think the owner also has an Audi A6 AllRoad because i've seen a similar plate on one - OO11 YES (11 was bridged with a black screw cover)

One I saw yesterday on a mustang made me think that the owner has recently been pulled over by the BiB

    SRO 850N

It wasn't spaced as such when I last saw it.

Also saw LE66END which is a bit of fun.

Around here was L3GAL which must be worth a few quid and on a Ferrari, which I think may belong to a Pink Floyd, member is PAN1C - spotted in Hampstead a few years ago but doesn't seem to show up now.

I've seen a couple of decent ones this morning:

    WH02BET

    RWE88

    Here's my 2012 Mustang Boss 302:

I contacted the DVLA and asked if they would issue BOS 302. They replied it had previously been issued, but 302 BOS had never been issued, so they agreed to enter it in the next DVLA auction.
(in case you are wondering... 302 is the engine size in cubic inches)

Well worth the £1,200 it cost me I reckon:

    That's fantastic!

Can you give me the email address which you used? I'm in a similar situation as I'd like to ask them to put a plate into auction which I wasn't aware you could do. Many thanks.

I’ve bought several plates from the DVLA auctions. I always write to them. This address should work:

    Sale of Marks
    DVLA Personalised Registrations,
    Swansea,
    SA99 1DN

Once saw CO5 1 CAN on a CLS55 AMG. Also saw AN 03 BMW on a 3 series a few years back. There is usually a Fiat 500 in Covent Garden with the late 17ALY.

MUS1C and 50UND were both around in Worcestershire a lot when I was growing up in early 2000s. Stella McCartney lived that way but no idea these belonged to Paul!

At my school gates we had a pair of crackers:
B1TCH on a black Mercedes coupe (I think a CL); and
    W1TCH on a Mitsubishi pickup.

They're a bit of fun to some, but a tedious fool I once had to endure had a very cheap plate with the letters 'CJD' at the end as those were his wife's initials. He took me out to the car park once to point out that below the registration on the number plate was written 'mad cow'. He was very proud of it and showed everyone he could - to him the joke never wore off.

I saw something really bizarre this week on the A14 near Cambridge.

I was following a Ssanyong 4x4 monstrosity and it had a very usual age related plate (SH04 RJK or something of that vein) but underneath the plates, both front and rear, was a tiny little 1" by 6" plate with another plate (which was something like SJH 1).

    The mind boggles.

MUS 1C lives near me in North Oxfordshire (photo I took below as my local petrol station a few months ago), definitely not Paul McCartney

The B1TCH plate must have been something else, as I don't believe that's ever been released by the DVLA

There's a "real good number plates" thread on Pistonheads that I regularly contribute to. Here's one that I saw recently and amused me.

You’re right - just checked and they didn’t issue it, which really shouldn’t be a surprise. I’ll have to ask my mum whether she remembers it...

I just saw ‘GUE57S’ on the M5. Must be subconsciously looking for them.

one of our local councillors/ businessmen also has an Aston & as above last time I saw it it was on heading home on a recovery trailer!

plate is his initials, 07 (ref to bond?) then GTF, (Grimsby Town football)....JF07 GTF, cracking looking (and sounding motor) not envious at all..

Mrs T has a new motor coming soon & I've just splashed out a whopping £250 for her...AJ05 TUN, AL11 TUN was a bit too steep at £1600

Councillor with an Aston you say ? I wonder how long it'll be before he's getting the "out" vote.

We had W5D TT on a red TT - think Alex Ferguson pronunciation of letter R.

Now hoping someone with initials WS with a diesel TT wants it - W5 DTT

I can't help it. Sorry! An illegally spaced plate is really chavy imo and not something to be proud of. I shall try my best to say no more.

Just seen this in Liverpool. Probably more apt if it was wheel spinning down a muddy track.

This is a 'good plate' thread. Sorry but they're all s*** £250 entry level plates.

'Might' at a push mean something to you, but to everyone else...nothing.

Lol, you seriously think I care if they mean anything to anyone else.

Perhaps this is why they are "personal" plates. WHO5SSH

Well I dunno. You've proudly told us about your s*** plates on a "good plate" thread?.

Obviously you think they are at least 'good' enough to do that, or you wouldn't have mentioned them.

I'm just saying what everyone else is thinking, your plates are s***

I saw a couple this morning that would probably have you spitting feathers:

T1M HE which I thought was pretty good and

LY17DA X which actually looks better written here than it did on the car!
