A certain digi Omega?
All post in our household is in quarantine for 72h because of the Covid-19 so here is my latest that just landed..
Thanks to TZ!
Something to look forward to in these troubled times. Roll on Saturday,
Martyn
A certain digi Omega?
Maybe a daft question but I don't recall seeing anything about quartining parcels for 72h, is that a personal rule?
Wasn't there research suggesting upto 9 days?
Can't you just spray each layer with disinfectant as you unwrap it?
Or the obvious - wear gloves. Either disposable or then wash straight away.
Admire your will power !
You would have to think the same for items bought from the supermarket that's been handled by multiple people, scary times hafle.

The contents is not guaranteed virus free - the outside packaging is my least worry tbh as it's mostly cardboard. Basically I'm applying safe principles - and in this case I know the watch, so don't want to be washing it in hot soapy water!
Stay safe guys - too many have died already and I don't want to be a statistic.
PS: Yes I do wash down all food packaging with soap and any fresh veg with water (soap not recommended). Makes a right mess of the bag of sugar I just bought though (joke).

I burn all my post currently just to make sure...
Handy for bills not so much for watches.
I’ll get my coat.
Can’t you just stick the bracelet on SC now to put us all out of our misery?
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
Lol... madness

This might answer some of the questions raised in the thread (except what the watch is!)
How long does coronavirus live on different surfaces

I do admire your will power.😷
That's some impressive tape work on that box.
I think that's a clue to where it came from, definitely taped up by a scotsman but I dont recognize that tartan

Tin foil hat stuff
You shouldn't leave the house ever if it's your attitude to risk as you are more likely to die tripping and banging your head.
Get a grip.
Looking forward to seeing the unveiling, Martyn
Simon
Open it, you'll die anyway, so what's the difference? Get some herd immunity going.
A bit of an ironic post from you .
Where were your manners when posting the sarcastic thread mocking Jocke's thread's?
Maybe time had let it slip from your memory.
Anyhow as my occupation, including treating Covid19 patients today, involves a bit of cross infection knowledge I'll stand by my comment.
Handling stuff is fine providing that you don't touch your face. I'd be straight in there, extract the watch, stash the packaging somewhere, wipe the watch down with a disinfectant wipe, wash my hands and get on with enjoying it. Particularly if it's what I think it is, I bloody love them.
Don't just do something, sit there. - TNH
Congratulations on your newest arrival
Cannot believe you managed to get that last pack of Andrex Soft and gentle loo roll, by the size of the box you must have splashed the cash on a 24pack. Lucky you!

It is just toilet paper right? You just had the package marked “wrist watch” to make sure it doesn’t get stolen somewhere in transit?

Firstly, there's a difference between mocking the some conceited photographer wandering around the internet soaking up as much attention as possible and some poor guy frightened for his life. Secondly, I didn't say you were wrong, I was pointing out what how unpleasant you were being: this is watch talk, not the bear pit. Thirdly, I hope the sleep did you some good.
Just to add, this was a serious question. I've also been very careful with packages, opening them without making contact with anything else, carefully dropping items out of box, leaving box outside for days and immediately washing my hands. Then we had a largish delivery from the supermarket yesterday, and I realised how futile these precautions probably are.
The parcel must be contaminated in some way, perhaps radiation. Look what it has done to the floor tiles.
Congrats on your new purchase, but wow, I'm not sure I would wait 72 hours before handling it.
Hi Tony - unfortunately we can’t get any food internet shopping - so we shop at our local Co-Op so only have one or two bags we can carry home - not too much to sift through.
These are some guidelines from a .gov site
- Disinfect all nonporous food packaging or containers with a suitable disinfectant spray or wipes before you store them away.
- Wash open fruit and vegetables by washing under the tap and scrubbing with a soft brush.
- After handling food and food packaging thoroughly wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds.
- Disinfect all surfaces where your food bags have been and your reusable shopping bags.
- Where suitable surface disinfectants are unavailable you should adequately clean any surfaces using detergent and hot water.
- If you have been shopping for people who are vulnerable or self-isolating it is important that you maintain a safe 2 metre distance when dropping of the supplies and that they disinfect the shopping, bags and surfaces.
Hope that helps? All the best. Martyn

There is no way I could wait to open that. More willpower than me.
Looks highly contaminated to me ,post the whole unopened package on and I dispose of it safely so no risk to you .
Very impressive discipline Martyn, if this is anything to go by you must wear the equivalent of a space suit when you do your weekly supermarket shop...... I think it’s fair to say that most of us would have opened that as soon as it landed.
I’m sure it will be worth waiting for

Martyn enjoy the countdown! Tempting to open it, but I understand why.
Just pretend it's a Christmas pressie & Christmas day is on Saturday, easy! Seriously though, noone blames you for being careful, enjoy the big day!
In retrospect, perhaps I shouldn't have put that homemade mackerel pate in there for you as a treat Martyn..
Mask up and open the box underwater in a bucket of disinfectant whilst wearing rubber gloves
take the contents out underwater and let them sit in the liquid for an hour or two
that should solve your curiosity
The longest 72 hours ever for you Martyn I’d imagine :-)
The clock is ticking. Stay strong and stay safe.

Serious question - are you going to take such precautions for ever. If your end date is a when a vaccine is available, that won’t guarantee not getting CV (just like my flu jab doesn’t guarantee I won’t get the flu) ..... or you wait for a treatment which again won’t mean you safe to get it ......
By the way Martyn I’m wearing and enjoying the Breitling during lockdown!

I agree with others, spray it with disinfectant and give a good wipe down as you go. Bonkers in our house, the wife has taken to wiping the shopping down before anyone else is allowed to touch it.
