    Was only joking...

Seriously, google is your friend, but do tons of research if you find anything.

Thanks for that, there’s 3 on there but very little info with them. I wonder if they’re like dfs with their sales

No they are definitely not like DFS...
More service with a sneer, size you up before they let you in the shop.
Their main clientele base is rich tourists, that’s said there has not been many of them for a while, you might get lucky!

There are plenty of other dealers. I was illustrating the point that I was able to find the Watch wanted for sale in a UK dealership in a matter of minutes.

I'm sure there will be more available over on Chrono24.

There is your problem, I doubt he wants to pay Chrono24 prices so thought he would try his luck here.

You are probably right, but his hunt is for such a specific and now rare watch that the chances of finding someone with one who doesn't wear it, doesn't know what it's currently worth and willing to let it go cheap is all very unlikely.

I think the price of the one linked is fine. I bought a 1978 Mark 3 Maxi dial 5512 and that was £12k back in 2017.

If the guy is serious then he really should be looking at the websites of the Rolex dealers that are on TRF list of approved used dealers. My 5512 came from Exotic Watches in Madrid and they are on TRF list.

Problem is correctly dating any Watch to 1977. As we know the Rolex serial number tables are all over the place and even the more reliable ones like Jason's Sweeping Hand and Bob's Watches can differ for a given serial number, others can be years out.

Agree with Ken here plus you can find an official sales receipt for a watch that was made years earlier. Rolex AD's back in the day kept watches for years before they were sold.

So back then it took years for them to sell one and now it takes years for you to buy one. Truth is for all the Rolex buying/ putting on a list palaver, nothing has really changed for Rolex.

The good thing about trying to get a specific year watch with the 5513 is that the dials are very well documented.

In your case if you find a mark I maxi dial you should be pretty close to 1977.
