Had a fibreglass roof put on a new extension. I’ve seen this stuff installed before, not sure the builder did a particularly good job of it. Lumps and bumps in places and the odd leak here and there!
I would have thought all the fibres should be totally encased in the top coat? There seems to be a number of areas that have pinholes, which is a potential route for water ingress.
I’m going to suggest the lumps are sanded and a new top coat applied as it doesn’t seem right to me. Anyone else installed this stuff?

That is an awful job, you should not be able to see any of those fibres at all, the resin coat should be smooth and uniform...
It definitely needs revisiting...

There was a similar case on Watchdog this week, roof was deemed rubbish, worth watching on I Player if it’s on.
Looks like he's run out of resin and called it a day.
A few frost cycles in those gaps is going to cause issues.

I had it installed you will need it to be sanded down and to put another coat if not 2 of resin. Small pin holes will allow water to go through.

That is a shockingly poor installation. I hope you are able to have them back to redo it.

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
That’s not good. Firstly there’s not enough Resin in the matting, it’s should be smooth and solid when sanded down before a top coat is applied. The top coat is there for UV protection and for a nicer cosmetic appearance, not to make the Roof water tight.
Honestly I’d ask then to start again as sanding down a whole roof and cleaning it off properly takes longer than to over board and start again.
Most GRP roofs are guaranteed for 10/15/20 years by the contractor and also the materials manufacturer, but materials manufacturer won’t guarantee that roof based on your pictures.
(I run an online business selling GRP to roofers and I’m a partner in a GRP specialist installation company, who are often asked to rectify badly installed roofs).
Thanks for the comments. When the matting went down there didn’t seem to be enough resin applied for my liking.
I’ll see what he has to say tomorrow.
