A UV torch needs a couple of seconds on the dial to get lume charged up, phone flash in my experience requires longer and doesn't keep the lume glowing for as long.
Having said that my phone's a Huawei not an iPhone so perhaps there's a difference in their LED torches?
Here's a couple of photos showing my Ming under UV light and the glow after charging

Was playing with a new torch I got the other night also.
Nice to see the vintage Seiko Arnie had some life left, although did fade after 5 seconds.
The Panerai, did what a Panerai does.
The BB58 was impressive also.

One more, I love the blue lume Rolex uses and how it looks every time I walk inside after being under the sun for some time.
