Thread: Daytona now joins the team!

    Daytona now joins the team!

About to sit down for me dinner around 6 on Thursday night when my AD texts me this

Skipped dinner as I had a fully booked weekend ahead, it was now or next week so I jumped in the car and off I went, typically the wife left the car low on fuel so had to take a detour to get some fuel (has to be Shell or Tesco100)

I culled a few watches the beginning of the year and been living with just my Seadweller (116600) which I've been very happy with, a couple of weeks back I did cave and purchased the new Explorer (214270) passed on a couple but in the end though it would make a good do anything watch with a lower profile to the SDc.

Had actually given up on the Daytona as I had an issue with an AD selling one from under me and not being honest about it etc which left me at the back of the line at every other AD, at one point I did look at selling my two and adding some serious funds to go with the WG DD40 but the overall cost just didn't sit right and decided to hold off a year or two so I can get it without sacrificing my SS watches.

Well an hour or so after the text I was at the AD and collecting my Daytona :) must say even after trying it on at a couple of Rolex events having it on my wrist for a few hours made me realise it's even more special then I thought and wiped away the idea in the back of my mind to flip and put the profit towards the DD40.

Well here she is, sized but not destickered

    And finally a family shot

It is and for me I do prefer it over the pre ceramic model which I never really bounded with.

As above I didn't got on with my first SS Daytona and likes the look of the ceramic models but didn't want a RG one on leather and the Plat model was well out of reach, this update for me has made it pretty much perfect.

Thanks I'm very happy with it

Had a few date models but no real theme just how the collection has evolved I guess, as said a long term plan is the DD40 in a year or so.

Thank you and yeah really happy with these three (for now)

Yes I love the black & white contrast of it, gives it a much more sporty look which I feel a Daytona should be.

    Daytona now joins the team!

Great complimentary trio, with each serving a different purpose. I normally prefer a black dial but with the new Daytona the contrast with the black bezel and red text makes this the best choice!

Very nice, I'd be able to live with just the Daytona and Explorer quite easily.

    Really nice threesome!
You have similar tastes to me.
How long was your wait with the Daytona?
No point in flipping it as once you have one you will always hanker after another if you had let it go.
Like the seadweller best out the 3 though
    Enjoy them.

That is a lovely trio. I saw my first new Daytona being worn by a lucky fella in a restaurant in Cornwall this week.

These threads are killing me! I'm no2 on the list for a white face one. Once I get the call the speedy and grand sEiko will be gone to make way!

    Congrats it's an amazing watch

Congratulations - a lovely trio. I tried on the black dial ceramic Daytona a few months ago and am glad that I have asked for the white dial (no idea when that will happen though!).

Your stable is truly awesome, congrats.

What struck me is that this would be a great collection of styles in any price bracket and is something I will consider in future.

Well done. Congrats on the new Daisy.
Nice trio too. Only thing missing is your modded SubC. It would have completed the gang.

Truly epic SS trio! If you swapped the Exp for a blue Milgauss then perfect! Saying that the new Exp looks bloody lovely, the first real improvement Rolex have made in a while i think.

Lovely trio - despite the 'size' I do find the daytona has fantastic wrist presence.

Absolutely! Z-blue dial is stunning and something different to your normal (albeit lovely) black dialled sports Rolex. Also the blue, black and white dials would have been a great combo.

Funnily enough, the Daytona seems like it will be likely to elude me for some time. If I get one within a year, I'll be happy.

Great trio and I hope you wear in good health.

A great collection and I must try to get on a Daytona waiting list somewhere in the UK, as on the 2 occasions I have visited AD's they tell me that their lists are closed.

Congratulations - they all look great

    Thanks

Nothing wrong with the all black but for me the white/black contrast makes this watch.

They are great but I could never be without the 116600, still can see it being my favourite after the honeymoon period wears off with the Daytona.

Long story.. I was first on my AD's list and they received their first back in July which I didn't get, I had to order mine via the Rolex rep and regional sales manager and it arrived within two weeks.

And yeah the 116600 is my 1st/2nd favourite SS Rolex I'll make my decision once I've had the Daytona a few months

I've only seen two in the wild and they were both at a Rolex event a few weeks back (white and black)

My thoughts exactly and the reason I moved my 116520 on as it looked dated against the PM update markings/ceramic bezel models

Don't know much about GS but sure the Speedy can stay if you are going white Daytona, plus the Speedy is a classic!

Think a WG DD40 would top it off nicely just a shame I'm currently £25,000 short (they are £25,100 haha)

As said but what limited info I've had most branches outside London have had their second batches through, assuming London will be having more allocations.

Thank you, I did have the Milgaus GV and loved the look but moved it on as it was a little unstable on my wrist, the blue looks good in pic but in person I found it to have too much going on and not a fan, this added to the fitment issue makes it a no no for me!

Agree on the Exp its now my daily wear anywhere watch!

Also as for adding colour I'm in love with the green WG DD40 But sadly not the price so may entertain a green or blue addition once funds allow or should Rolex release an all SS DJ41 next Basel.

Thanks and yes this newer model definitely looks larger on the wrist then the previous! Actually find the white looks bigger then the black.

Wouldn't say it's mental but agree I wouldn't put the blue GV above any of my three!

Thank you, that would work but I'm more inclined to class them

    Exp- daily
    SDc- casual black dial
    Daytona- casual white dial
DD40 WG green dial- best (and in my dreams)

Fantastic trio. I'm still not sure on the centre links on these Rolex bracelets but love the Daytona dial white dial now they have put black rings back on it - maybe need to try one to convince myself. You must find it hard to choose which to wear!

Best collection I've had so far

Exp is my daily, not a fan of the term but guess some would call it a beater!

Then it's just a case of choosing between the black or white when off out.

As I've mentioned (a few times) I'd love to add a WG DD40 as best in the not too distant future.

Cracking watches, and a great trio!

I tend to prefer black dials if it's a choice between black and white, but I think I'd go for a white dial Daytona. It looks really clean and crisp.
