Hopefully that means the disc golf courses will be opening up again, for those of who want to have actual fun :p
Thank goodness!
0730 tee tomorrow morning...the first round for too long. Pairs or singles only and properly organised with a starter all day. The tee sheets are full, the weather forecast is favourable and I've found my shoes. Can't wait
(mind you, the pro did mention that me and my mate are the first two away tomorrow ....so no pressure...)
Hopefully that means the disc golf courses will be opening up again, for those of who want to have actual fun :p
A good walk ruined!
I’m still working but have a 5.20 tee time for Thursday (we only reopen Thursday for some reason with 9 holes only for now).
I was lucky enough to be in Marrakech at the beginning of March with my clubs and only played one round despite plenty of opportunities to play more. Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
Still, with everything going we should consider ourselves hugely fortunate. I certainly am.
Tee time for missus and me booked at our club for 16:30 tomorrow

The local public one near me is staying shut for now - apparently staffing issues. Fingers crossed sorted soon. Enjoy your rounds over the coming days chaps!
Playing tomorrow 12.10
Two balls and members only (The Pro shop isn't open to take green fees).
I was a bit late off the mark and didn’t get a tee time until Friday 15.50, but do have another one for 11.10 on Monday. We can only book 7 days in advance so I will have to wait until tomorrow to get a Wednesday slot. I cannot wait
Ref the website crashing, it seems that IG provide the hosting service for many clubs and it was this that struggled under the traffic.

Maybe I'm not as keen as you guys, but I just feel like all the restrictions and booking requirements suck all the enjoyment out of it for me. Doubt I'll bother at the moment.
Nice for golfers that they can play again, but there are plenty of us with other pastimes, seemingly as safe, who aren't able to enjoy them, so maybe try and sound a little less smug that you're granted exceptions to the rules the rest of us have to live by at the moment.

Gutted by this
Live next to a golf course and it's been lovely during shutdown, walks with the dogs, let the kids have a run around, play in the 'sand pits', even had a game of kwik cricket and a picnic with the kids on VE day
oh come on that's a bit harsh and sounds somewhat bitter, lockdown is tough on all, you haven't mentioned what your pastime of choice is, could be a swingers club where social distancing makes it difficult to partake , what ever your poison, i think we should focus on the positives, starting to try and return to normal (what ever that is) is a good thing, but done in a measured and responsible way, sadly means not everything and everyone's life goes back to normal day one.
Might head to the coast for round of crazy golf.
Always a risk that it might sound bitter, which is why I started with a positive, but, while I can see why Golfers will be pleased to be able to partake of their pastime, most others can't, so a bit of consideration for non Golfers wouldn't hurt...
Golf, like Football, seems to be something that fans fail to comprehend that not everyone loves.
I don't begrudge Golfers a game, but do wonder why they've been granted special dispensation, while the government are still telling us we can't visit family in their gardens...

I had 0800hrs tee off booked for Monday as advised to do by our club, expecting it to be open. Then on Sunday they announced we would have to wait until Wednesday.....but today I’m in work until 1800hrs 😏
Luckily I don’t have to wait too long though, tee time booked for tomorrow! Never been so excited for a friendly knock!
Haha - ‘fail you comprehend that not everyone loves’!? I spend most days being mocked for my love of the game by all and sundry. Funny.
Genuinely sorry this thread has hurt your feelings. But given the title it probably would have been sensible to ignore it and move on frankly!
I'm surprised at that.
Everytime I've ever looked at a car, the salesman has felt it essential to tell me how many sets of golf clubs I could get in the boot and I've lost track of the number of pitying/dismissive looks I've got at work over many years when I've admitted I don't play.
I guess I'm just feeling a bit grumpy right now and this was the thing that set me off this morning.
I truly hope those playing have a good time, but spare a thought for the less fortunate...

I hear what you are saying. I enjoy our “Roll up” events. You play as a 4 ball, and you don’t even know your partner before the draw. Followed by a bit of banter in the clubhouse with tea and cake.
Currently we cannot even use the range, practice area or putting green without pre booking

Walking round a field for 3.5 hours with one person who isn’t a member of your household. Anyone can do it now including you - you’re no less fortunate. Throw some money down the drain, carry a bag and get frustrated every 10 minutes for the full experience.
I honestly don’t understand your posts on this thread. I would be delighted as ANYTHING is reopened for people to enjoy after the last 8 weeks, whether it involves me or not. Meh
No, well, you don't need to (not entirely sure why it's annoyed me so much, to be 100% honest - I could try to explain it, but it would probably annoy people).
Should I have just passed the thread by? Almost certainly, but there was something in the 'yaaaaay!' that irritated me, combined with the TV news being so excited about it - It happens to us all, I'm sure...
As I said earlier, I'm just a bit grumpy today and this set me off - Enjoy your game.

Yeah, my wife mentioned that's allowed too - Would appeal to me more, but I know from trying a few year ago that my knee wouldn't appreciate it
I suspect, though, if the TV news and thread had been about Tennis, I might have posted something very similar (although not about car boot sizes!) ...
I guess it's inevitable that this 'baby steps' approach will start to splinter the "We're all in it together" aspect as some remain in 'it' and others don't (whether that be work, socialising or pastimes)
Anyway, LAST POST on this subject from me - If you are playing Golf or Tennis, have fun - I'm working today, so couldn't do either if I wanted to.

Booked for this afternoon, Saturday, Sunday & next Tuesday :-) Only reason it's not more is they won't allow bookings more than 6 days in advance!
Can’t wait to get out! Playing Friday and Sunday! Haven’t swung a club for 10 weeks! Now where did I put that 7 handicap.... not sure I will be seeing that for a while!! 😂😂
Well I really enjoyed my round this morning ....didn't play great but that was to be expected!
@ snowman......wtf?? If you hate golf so much and feel so strongly about some people discussing the pastime they enjoy why on earth visit the thread? And why post so much venom so many times?
All that has happened is that you have come across as a miserable killjoy with nothing better to do than thread spoil. I suggest you take a minute to think about that.
Ps yaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!
I have no interest in golf, but pleased you can all partake again. I've been lucky that all of my pastimes have remained doable, apart from propping up public bars! Serious question re golf. I read that in order to maintain hygiene the flag would remain untouched in the hole when putting. What would happen if the ball was clearly going in but deflected off the pole?
F.T.F.A.
I don't think anyone would be too picky about that at the moment. I suspect most courses will have some sort of arrangement about flags. We are not supposed to touch the flags and each one has a high tech piece of foam around the bottom of the flag pole so that the ball just drops about a cm or two into the new, shallow hole. Seemed to work well today.
At our club today there were no holes cut in the greens.
The flags were on a raised pad the size of the hole and about 1.5" high.
If the ball hit the 'hole' and wasn't deflected more than a putter length away it was deemed to be holed.
No one had any reason to touch the flagstick or put their hand in a hole.
Alright for some 😂😂
Come on Nicola we need the green light for Scotland 😀

It is indeed in lovely condition. The ground staff have been hard at work during lockdown and the results are there to be seen. Some bunkers are not perfect but that's because it's been difficult to get some materials recently.....not that it especially matters at the moment as you can't rake a bunker and you can pick and place if required.
Its not as wide as it looks in the picture....at least not everywhere. Plenty of ways to lose shots
Its Boundary Lakes in Hampshire.
Yes for tennis 2 sets of balls, I played today and it worked fine, no changing ends and you only serve with your balls.
Got a tee time booked for friday looking forward to it.
Lucky my 2 hobbies are tennis and golf just need the kids back at school to free up some more time 😀
