    Rolex availability

Does anyone know what Rolexes should be readily available from ADs in Scotland/UK?

    Pretty much covers it.
Whatever is languishing in the window is what they don’t mind you buying.

I was hoping to get an OP39 or Sub no date. I also like the Explorer. I realise the Sub is probably impossible. The OP is the white dial.

All your post so far have been centred around the same theme, how much are you willing to pay?

if interested in travelling a bit south, there are many DJ41 lately at Newcastle, especially those with blue dial and roman numbers (Goldsmiths) or diamonds (both jubilee and oyster bracelets)

The op is probably the most likely one you might find lying around at an AD by chance. Explorer you can possibly get with a small wait

“Post“ should be plural and a full stop used at the end of a sentence.

Good question - it's to see whether the answer to your question is any different to the same question that's been asked by new members at least once every week for the last two years, - which is why it's so tiresome, together with the fact that you went to the trouble of asking the same question in two separate threads which comes across as just 'a little bit needy', but no matter some 'forum angels' have arrived to offer their support.

Hope you manage a round of golf over the weekend.

Oh and as I said when you first asked the question - welcome to the forum.

If you really need to ask that question, then there is no point in answering. A kid of six could work that out.

I rang around a few AD a year or so ago for a Sub no date .... 1 year waiting list . Ended up going down the used route which actually cost more than RRP. Seems to be common with this brand. GLW your search:)

Why not try and book a few appointments with your friendly local AD next week, see what they don't have, get put on an imaginary waiting list, then pop back on here to moan about how Rolex ADs have nothing in stock.

Over the following few months you should start a string of threads repeatedly asking how long it will take for your name to rise to the top of the imaginary waiting lists, for all the unobtainable Rolex models you think you have your name against.

Then, when the reality sinks in, you can decide whether or not to pay the 30-80% more than Rolex list price from any number of 'grey' and used dealers, and be able to buy pretty much any Rolex model you want.

    Most of all, have fun

Thanks very much for all the helpful information. I’ll have a look in a few ADs next week, and see what’s available. Hopefully I might get lucky, but I’m not holding my breath.

I didn’t realise the models I’m looking at, were so hard to get from an AD.

I think the OP and Explorer are getable and who knows with a bit of leg work from you, the sub maybe too. You can ask and ask on here and all you’ll get is personal experiences or wild guesses, though you may get lucky and get a heads up now and again. With social distancing etc it may be harder now, but historically I’d say it’s going into AD’s and asking that counts. Maybe going back again and making sure they know you intend to buy. It’s doing the leg work that pays off in my experience.

If you are not already a preferred customer with an AD, the chance of getting a steel sports at list is practically nil.

Why not consider watch brands that are readily available? You know, just wander into a shop, ask an assistant to bring you a selection of watches and you get to handle the merchandise. See something you like, negotiate a discount and head home with your new bauble. Simple.

I presume if he wanted any of those brands he would have already done that. There's a reason they're readily available.

Up until lock down hit, I walked through the arcade in Glasgow a few times a month for the last few years, during this period there were never any stainless sports models at all.

Lots of subs/gmt/explorer 2 etc etc available second hand but nothing brand new.

None of the AD’’s in Glasgow could get me a white OP39 when I tried a few months back.

Probably because the OP wants the current "must have bauble", he / she has tried everywhere else and imagines that TZ has inside information,

You can get one, albeit not the ones that you and most others want. It wasn’t always like this though. Human nature to want what we can’t have. Good luck with the search.

He actually said he was thinking about an OP39, Explorer or Sub no date, hardly the “current must have bauble”. That would surely be a Pepsi, BLNR or Daytona if Rolex was the brand choice. Rolex are popular, for many reasons, and I don’t think it’s good to try to belittle people for wanting one, any more than other sought after brand.

The OP no. The Explorer 1, at this point, I'd say yes. If you are prepared to pay above list, you can have anything you want. It's only money.

You should have tried the ADs in Edinburgh.😀

A mate of mine was offered a 114060 by two ADs within three or four months of asking.

    No previous purchasing history.

He bought one and when the second AD phoned told them he already had one and passed.

Where does the James Cameron 126660 sit in the "must have" hierarchy?

JC is a gorgeous watch but bigger than most can easily wear.
It’s not one that goes in the window but one you could get on a list for and get within a reasonable time with low-medium spend level I’d say. In terms of “hard to get” I’d probably put it similar to root beer.
