I think James Garner was at least as cool as Steve McQueen. I loved the Rockford Files when I as a kid and Grand Prix has the most incredible racing scenes ever filmed (in my admittedly amateur opinion).
Nice watch, too.

Rockford Files was compulsory family viewing in our household, Garner seemed such an effortlessly relaxed guy.
I love that they personalised his watch for him.
And am a little surprised the family is selling it.
The estimated price us a joke.
It was (or would have been) James Garner's birthday yesterday (born on the 7th of April 1928). Nice tie-in.

I'm surprised Gigi, his daughter, is selling it but I assume she has many mementos of her father. Like others I was, and still am, a huge fan of the Rockford Files. I've posted a couple of times about James Garner:

Penguin piss levels of cool and a racing driver - legend.
Impeccable taste in watches too.
Strange. Just been talking to my sister, who wants a Rockford Files ring tone for her front door bell. (Her new house has wood panelling in the hall).
All she’d need then is a gold car.
Something made me think of this thread and James Garner's watch (Item 24) so I thought I'd look up what the watch sold for: $176,400.
As an aside, in the same auction a George Daniels Anniversary (Item 12) went for $2,389,500 and a Roger Smith Series 2 Open Dial (Item 11) went for $840,700. Some steep prices on many other watches.
The Full List.
