Wow that’s not good, I hope you get your watch before then. This is the first I have heard about
Hi all ,
As the title, anyone else been told their Sinn is/will be badly delayed?
I ordered a Sinn U2 SDR full tegiment on 17 Feb 2022, with a note from the website at point of ordering that delivery was about 17 weeks. This would have taken delivery to about now, the middle of June.
I called today for an update, and was told via email (see excerpt below) that delivery would now be September, 32 weeks.
Pic of the watch, just because…
Was really looking forward to it… very frustrating!!
Anyone else having this issue?
Cheers,
Effortless

Don't know the underlying causes, but Damasko are affected by similar long delays.
That’s pretty outrageous. I remember Damasko had some supply issues too, I presume there’s a common problem, interesting that it’s not something we’ve seen a lot of among Swiss brands (at least I haven’t).
I’m not sure I could wait that long.
I ordered a Citrine Yellow 556 in April and delivery was estimated late July, I really hope it isn't delayed as I've been counting down the weeks already.
I’ve been looking at Sinn’s over the last few weeks and I’ve noticed that the current wait times have started running into months especially for the tegimented U models.
I suspect that the global supply chain issues have started to take hold in the watch industry now.

Both Sinn and Damasko are experiencing significant production delays, and both companies specialise in watches utilising uncommon grades of super-hard steel in their cases.
Meanwhile, we suddenly have a major surge in demand for weapons of many kinds - both to supply Ukraine, and for a number of NATO countries to belatedly re-equip.
I wonder if these two things might in any way be related?
My brother works in Yacht racing/construction and apparently carbon fibre is now really hard to get hold of due to an increase in use by the military - huge wait lists to build your yacht if you don’t already have a stockpile. This might well be the case with other hi tech materials I guess?

Was looking at a 556i til I realised there was a 90 day delivery time. Must be global supply chain issues perhaps.
I guess a lot of factors are conspiring together to slow production - e.g. COVID lockdown WFH has become a habit lots of people don't want to break, so many workers have packed-in jobs that didn't allow for it and moved elsewhere or retired early.
It must also be said (having had it fairly recently) even the milder current variants are still pretty unpleasant, it ended up being 7 weeks before I felt properly better, so sick leave will be higher.
Then you have inflation, materials shortages, ongoing supply-line issues...
All I can say is that all the above-mentioned brands are certainly worth the wait imho.
I agree Earl, we are currently grinding our way through a dose of Covid and I believe it is really common and affecting productivity much more than the Gov will ever admit. Just to make sure they are right that it isn't prevalent they will cease all daily reporting of Covid numbers at the end of June. So productivity should soon be on the increase
while it's true that carbon fibre is in short supply worldwide, I don't think it's anything to do with the military. Nearly half of the worldwide supplies are now being taken by companies building wind turbines and now that people are starting to travel by air again after the pandemic, the aircraft manufacturers are starting to take a large share. Carbon fibre was already in short supply due to the pandemic and now that what is available is being swallowed up by these big companies, other manufacturers are having to manage with what's left.
Maybe it’s related to Germany’s power supply issues (which is obviously as a result of the war in Ukraine)? I know that the German car manufacturers are also quoting extremely long lead in times now. A car that was due now is now delayed until March 2023. I believe that they are working with reduced power supply so that must be throttling all manufacturing at source.

Car supply has been hit hard by the loss of a major wiring-loom manufacturer in Ukraine. Daresay dozens of other additional factors as well.
Yes, fair points. I imagine it’s all manner of issues, and Germany’s productivity seem to be suffering as a result.

I ordered one of the new release Nomos with steel bracelet last November…still no sign of it coming. I suspect that they are all following the Rolex lead of making filthy buyers wait for their gratification! Seriously, I dont beleive this is a Sinn, Damasko etc problem it seems to be inflicting many of the European brands in similar ways. I just hope that I still want the Nomos when is does land…tastes change.
Keith
He did mention aerospace too actually - he took a job project managing an America’s cup build recently purely based on the fact they had a stockpile of the right materials. Double whammy or maybe even a triple one with the pandemic/the return of civilian airlines and the Ukraine situation

I’ve had a Sinn 144 on order for just over 10 weeks. At the time, it was immediate availability for German date wheel, July for English. I can see the Sinn website now says 19 weeks. I’m hoping the date doesn’t slip too much.

coincidentally I just received the tracking data for the Nomos, so 7.5 months after order placement…
Keith
I see that 19 weeks last week has now turned into 32 weeks across the range.
Blimey!

Are the delays across the range or model specific.
It will be pretty hard to survive if you can’t ship any watches for 7 months.
Ive been told if you order a UX fully Teg its around 60 weeks at the min
I'm of to Sinn HQ in Germany in 2 weeks time for a tour and a talk to the
Marketing Director and I plan to asks him about this
Will it be your first video interview?
TZ’s own Parky?
I ordered a Fully tegimented U1 last year, I was told about four to six weeks and ended up waiting about four months. It came literally three or four days before Christmas. I was sticking my bottom lip out waiting that long, now it seems like it’s not so bad!
^^^ Nice dial!
