Tony, nice of you to buy your son a bike and especially after the issues and shift work hopefully he has learned "buy right or buy twice". Honda's aren't the sexiest but they work very well and they're totally dependable. I'm sure he's very grateful.

Oliver, that's quite a change from the R9T and a seriously nice bike. Don't see them often but when you do they're always worth a look and usually going double the limit!

Shame to see the 9T go, but looking forward to seeing the new steed on Insta!

Thanks mate - just wanted something safe and reliable for him. He did sit on the CBR but found it slightly taller than he was comfortable with. he also preferred a slightly more upright riding position coming from a scooter. For now, anyway!

Yeah, bit of track work for sure. I'm not a fantastic track rider but I'm hoping the KTM will instil some more confidence

It's a very adjustable machine, I am 5 10' and wouldn't want to be any shorter to ride it comfortably. Having said that, I haven't started playing around with the ride height settings yet

I can’t this weekend - but feel free to drop me a pm when you next do this and I can make sure I am free.

I would like to do more day/ overnight trips this year to see if the bike touring bug will work for me.

Are you in the TZUK Motorbikers WhatsApp group from the Rideout in the summer?

What time do you meet in West London usually?

I am I think. Leave W London between 9-10 if going for late brekky in Oxfordshire at this time of year? Try to ride when temps are double digit...

Saw a flock of about 20 Royal Enfield Hymalayans in a pub car park near Birdlip today. I wonder if it's a press launch or if they've just become very popular.

  16. #3916
Picked up my new ride, my best mate accompanied me on his MT10SP

First impressions: yeh that big v twin is tempamental at low revs and does not enjoy idle, riding position is beautiful, it's pretty vicious in the power delivery - it spins up like a waltzer, front wheel is fairly planted under load but can feel it get light with all of the torque on offer

Tomorrow's task is to see if my Gf will entry be able to get on the back!

I had an RC8, and it was about 40bhp away from being one of the best bikes I have owned (I have had pretty much everything) handled like nothing else, very comfortable riding position for a sports bike, looks amazing, but coming from a ZX10R at the time it just lacked that lunacy.

It wasn't slow by any means but it just didn't have the punch I was used to.

Really nice and lovely colour. I was looking at a Street Twin in Chester today, same colour, looks lovely. I admire your patience to wait until March.

I was also in Chester today, considering a barely used CB1100EX as a second bike (keeping my GS)...

I’ have arranged to have a ride on it at the weekend, but I have to say I’ am quite keen on it. A non-frantic 4 cylinder is just what I’ve been looking for, and the detailing on the CB1100 is excellent. They’re also good value imo - especially slightly used.

So... next week, I guess. :)

Weather looks cold but sunny tomorrow. I am hoping to go for a bimble somewhere (anywhere!) either towards Bucks (Beaconsfield, Great Missenden etc) or towards Henley - Reading etc.

Anyway fancy joining me at all (NW London ish)?

Hi Ian.... I’m putting these ones on, from the bobber, they’re made by canyon in the USA... same diameter but slightly wider. And a bit lighter.

Here they are on the bobber

How sad is this I looked at that as well. In terms of different bikes to the GS it ticks every box. There’s something to be said about the bulletproof performance of an an in-line Honda 4

I have a growing urge for an adventure bike. Maybe a Honda Africa Twin or BMW GS but I would probably need to sell one of the current bikes to make room. I really must do a European road trip this year so what’s the view on best pre-owned bike for around £7k?

A nice selection you have there Gurmot. Just thinking out loud but if are planning on a European road trip why not look at touring bikes rather than an adventure style machine.

Ride Magazine did a good feature in the current edition on the best value used touring bikes. There are plenty of choices to be had too.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten what they looked like on the bobber. Should look good on the new one I reckon. Are you leaving it red for a nice splash of colour?

Strictly yes, but my hankering after an adventure bike is for wider use (at least that’s what I’m telling myself!). There’s an 18 month old HAT for sale near me so I may just pop along and see.

Yes... Red wasn’t my first choice, but it was what they had in stock, and they did a better deal than if they had to order one in.

But the red is growing on me, so I’ll leave it be..👍👍
