Let's talk FOOTBALL! Not soccer, but FOOTBALL!

Yeah, all hapning . Brillyant init!
A game where hard men play without helmets and pads :)
Sigh: I miss our old stadium. Plenty of ambush bottlenecks on the way.

Only in 'merica can a sport be called football, thats played in tights and the ball is thrown / passed hand to hand, an hour game that seems to last all day and is only surpassed in boredom by baseball (rounders for simple kids), have commercial breaks every 15 minutes for the sponsors to cash in.
I was buzzing last night,I’d be surprised if we don’t go through, can’t see us conceding 4 next week, defence as improved since the last time we played,I don’t think we need to fear any other teams

No problems with the result, but you'd think their 'fans' , after all the incidents they've been involved in might have acted with a bit more restraint than they did when attacking the coach.
The club itself and Merseyside Police should also be held accountable for what went on.
On to the second leg.
Europa League very entertaining tonight
Excellent win for the Reds, but didn't they lose 5-0 last time they played at the Etihad!
The "Fans" You mean the two or three who threw the bottles or the 40 odd thousand in the stadium or the thousands outside who didn't throw a single thing?
How exactly can the club be held to account for what happened outside the ground and what exactly would you like the police to do, sellotape themselves to the bus windows?
Two or three ? Really ??
The club and the police knew this was going to happen, it's been all over social media since the draw was made. The club and the Police then rerouted City's bus but made sure the route was broadcast beforehand.
Watch the videos doing the rounds, there's one from inside the bus and come back on and tell me only "two or three" were at it.
So yes, the 'Fans' . Even though f they weren't all throwing missiles , they condoned it by doing nothing.

There's a bit of swearing in this .
Two or three
Yes your right, the fans should have formed a human chain to prevent it happening, should have detained the pesky scoundrels, they should have thrown themselves in front of the bus to protect it. The club rerouted the bus route are you sure about that and what was the reason for it? They and the police made sure it was broadcast? you may not have noticed but its a large blue City bus its not exactly hard to spot and the team buses get a police escort into most grounds. Do you also watch a lot of X Files box sets?
Do you go to many games?
Yes, the club and police rerouted the bus . Do you want to check on that fact before you continue ?
For a club that has been involved in two high profile incidents where football fans have lost their lives, yes, I'd expect a bit of common sense to play a part.
Never mind, they can always blame Chelsea fans eh?
No, never been to a game ever . I'm a snowflake .
The video taken inside the bus clearly shows it got constantly hammered by objects
and why was the route changed? Have a think about it then come back. Tell you what I will save you the trouble and tell you. There was building work on the usual route and both City and Liverpool were consulted prior to changing the route (That's kind of what happens or did you think the City bus driver was blindfolded then given a map when he hit the East Lancs?) Once again, do you watch a lot of X Files because you love a good conspiracy theory?
Just a game pal, you need to stop crying over the result and get over it. Looking for excuses wont help.
Yes, just a game, so why the Liverpool thuggery?
Why would I care as to the reason why the routes were changed? The fact is that the club and the police broadcast the new routes basically condoning what went on. I'm honestly not sure why you keep mentioning X Files ? Anything you'd like to share, perhaps?
Put another scenario in there. The ' blindfolded' driver can't see due to the flares, turns his coach into a group of cheeky scousers causing mayhem. Still acceptable? Those two or three fans surely couldn't foresee that , could they ?
If you actually bother to read my previous post, I've already said I had no issue with the result so I'm not making excuses. You do understand this point , right ? In fact, Ill say it again. I have no problem with the result, the scoreline, the final score etc etc. I'm certainly not crying over the result. I know where we've been and Im loving this now.
Oh, and I was there last night . Sorry to disappoint you even more.
Cant you read? BOTH Clubs were consulted about the change of route. How exactly were the police "Condoning" anything?
Good for you, you were there. Then you know full well the police escort the coaches into the grounds so stop acting like this is some new remarkable act by the police.
The X Files reference is due to your ridiculous idea that Liverpool football club and the Police somehow conspired to get a handful of idiots to throw misiles at an away coach.
And are you seriously trying to compare a few bottles being thrown to the deaths of 39 Italians? Do you really sink that low that you would use the deaths of football fans to score points?
Ha, nice one Ben. I'd forgotten about that .
Is it that close or are you just making Vardy s tally up? I'm sure he's only got about three this season 😂
Flipping heck. Razzer should be out of sight this year. For every one he gets, he misses a couple. Playing brilliantly though.
Off to check respective opponents .
Again , enough with the insults, I notice you skip all the relevant points and cherry pick bits where you might believe you make sense.
Consulting the clubs is a given, right? Why in the name of any sense, would they give it out to the fans??
I didn't compare a few( there you go again) bottles to Heysel . I just imagined a scenario if something had gone wrong. No point scoring at all.
Well this is a football thread about yesterdays game so that would be the obvious assumption.
Gerard (Spelt wrong) Carragher..... Neither of whom were playing last night, do you actually have a point to make or is this just another thread you feel desperate to post on for no other reason than argue on a topic you clearly know little about?
What relevant points? There are none.
Both clubs consulted on bus route with the police (Happens before every game) Route changed for safety reasons due to building work on original route. Change of route announced prior to game (The obvious assumption would be to ensure fans are not still congregating on unsafe route. You may not be aware of this but the police cant exactly ban people from standing on the pavement) Group of idiots throw bottles at bus. Club manager and club apologise. Game goes on without incident. You throw in a couple of low comments about Hillsbrough and Heysel as though a few morons throwing bottles could even possibly be compared to them. Pretty much sums it up really.
The attack on the City bus was shameful but people in glass houses etc..
https://www.gov.uk/government/public...to-2017-season
”More Birmingham City fans were arrested than any other club, as in the previous season, with 72 arrests. About a third of these arrests were for public disorder. They were followed by fans of West Ham United (67), Leeds United (61), Aston Villa (52) and Manchester City (47). In the previous season, more Birmingham City fans were arrested with 74 arrests, followed by fans of Millwall (69), Leeds United (68), Manchester City (66) and Arsenal (60).”
And let’s not forget the recent FA cup tie against Wigan.
Let’s face it, most football clubs have idiot elements.
You started off your replies with " two or three" fans did you not? Then it was " a few" objects were thrown , right?
The video I've posted definitely shows a hostile , dangerous atmosphere with a lot of goons involved. The rerouting did not need to be broadcast by the Police. Why do you think they did this?
This had been planned for a while. The flyers handed out were telling people to "bring flares, pyros etc. to intimidate the players back to Mancland" Do you think this is acceptable?
Even on RAWK, there were posts asking supporters to throw fireworks under the bus to " make them feel like a bomb has gone off" ? Funny, right?
It was foolish, dangerous and outright idiotic. This could have spiralled way out of control and you know it. I asked you what would have happened if the coach driver had been hurt, lost control of the bus and knocked a bunch of the spectators over. You didn't reply . I'd suggest that this is a relevant point.
Remember, and Im not point scoring, Heysel was caused by a few goons which spiralled out of control because of a number of circumstances. Tell me that this couldn't have gone the same way?
There's the return leg next week. Already , the goons on City's side are talking of revenge. Innocent matchgoers could get caught up in this all because " two or three" scallys chucked " a few" things. It probably won't be the pondlife who greeted the coach but don't tell me that these incidents don't have a knock on effect.
I think Man City should have turned the bus around after it was attacked and not attended the match on the grounds of player safety. Liverpool FC would have then either be kicked out of the competion of have to play the game on a safe neutral ground outside of Liverpool, perhaps Old Trafford.
I am sure the Liverpool supporters will try and claim they were the victims in what happened as they usually do, none of them had drunk alcohol and they all behaved like angels.
Liverpool FC should have been disbanded after Heysel.
Is that you HoneyFB? You never could resist a Scouser thread.
Is McGregor a Liverpool fan?
And me. I suppose the one positive (if you can call it that) is that 70 odd arrests per year is light years better than the level of violence that we saw in the 70s and 80s. That’s at club level at least. The national side seemingly attracts the same amount of no-marks that it did years ago.
